ABC is saying no to The Proposal: The reality romance competition from The Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss has been cancelled after just one season.
ABC president Karey Burke confirmed to TVLine that the series will not return for a Season 2. Airing last summer on the Alphabet network, The Proposal featured eligible singles competing in pageant-style rounds to win the heart of a mystery suitor or suitress who they wouldn’t meet until the end of the episode. Hosted by former Bachelor Jesse Palmer, it wrapped up its one and only season in August 2018.

As some of its scripted programming has floundered, in the last couple of years, ABC has been beefing up its non-scripted slate. In addition to the new docu-series The Last Defense, the network has also introduced The Proposal TV show, from The Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss. Without "bachelor" in the title, will the first season fare as well in the Neilsen ratings race, as other Fleiss shows? Will The Proposal be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
An ABC dating reality TV series, The Proposal is hosted by Jesse Palmer, with Ellen K announcing. In each episode, matchmakers select contestants, who then progress through "pageant-style" elimination rounds. When only two remain, the mystery suitor is revealed, in order to make a romantic proposal.

We could have told you on Monday who would win Tuesday’s primetime. In reality, we could have predicted this one for readers the moment last night’s schedules came out, featuring “Agt” and “World of Dance” on NBC.
“America’s Got Talent” and J. Lo’s dance competition dominated another evening for their host network. Fox and Univision finished tied for second among adults 18-49.
For ABC, “Last Defense” at 10 p.m. had another tough night. CBS’ “48 Hours: NCIS” didn’t exactly do great with the key demo either.

NBC was first in ratings with a 1.8 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 9.5 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Agt” at 8 posted a 2.0/9 and 11.1 million viewers. At 10, “World of Dance” put up a 1.4/6 and 6.2 million viewers.

ABC was easily Monday night’s Nielsen ratings sweetheart thanks to its pair of reality dating shows,”The Bachelorette” and “The Proposal,” taking the lead in both the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and total viewers, according to early numbers. That win comes despite the fact both of those series are currently facing criticism for accusations of sexual misconduct posed against its contestants.
The Disney-owned broadcaster’s planned installment for week two of “The Proposal” was swapped out for a different fresh episode last night after a contestant featured in the original was accused of being “directly responsible” for “date rape” last week. The show held steady with its premiere’s numbers in both the key 18-49 age range and overall eyeballs. And “The Bachelorette” ruled the entire night, as per usual, as it faces criticism for casting contestant Lincoln Adim, who was convicted of indecent assault and battery in May...

“Salvation” burned up on re-entry in the Monday overnight ratings.
The Season 2 premiere of the CBS summer drama about the world dealing with the knowledge that an asteroid is on a collision course with Earth pulled in a 0.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers at 9 p.m. That is down over 40% in the demo and over 30% in total viewers from the Season 1 premiere last summer.
Furthermore, it failed to match the Season 1 average Live+Same Day ratings of a 0.5 and 3.5 million viewers. In fairness, the first season enjoyed a lead in from “Big Brother,” while the second season debuted after repeats of “Mom” and “Man with a Plan.”
Later on CBS, “Elementary” also ticked down in both measures.
On ABC, “The Bachelorette” and “The Proposal” were both even.
On NBC, “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” and “American Ninja Warrior” both ticked down in the demo.

The Proposal seems to be causing a lot of problems for ABC considering it’s only right at the beginning of its run. Before the show even began, viewers were debating the whole concept behind it on Twitter. How could people who had never met get engaged and expect to stay together? Then came the whole debacle of the second episode of The Proposal, which was pulled from the ABC schedule because one of the contestants, Michael J. Friday, was linked to an alleged sexual assault case. The alleged victim of the scandal decided to speak out after ABC revealed who was on […]

Mike Fleiss, the creator of “The Bachelor,” is speaking out about the recent “abusive a–holes” that have been cast on “The Proposal” and “The Bachelorette.”
“For the record, I am horrified that any of these abusive a–holes are on our shows,” Fleiss tweeted Sunday of the two shows he executive produces. “We are working very hard to find ways to do better.”
Earlier in the weekend, Fleiss defended the fact that producers didn’t know a contestant on “The Proposal” was accused of facilitating sexual assault.

The Proposal creator Mike Fleiss, after first seeming to take a not-really-our-fault stance after accusations of sexual misconduct surfaced about one of the male contestants on the ABC show, tweeted a pledge to “find ways to do better,” apparently a reference to weeding out what he called “abusive assholes” from his shows.
On Friday, ABC and Warner Horizon announced that this week’s episode of The Proposal had been pulled following allegations by a Milwaukee woman that one of the show’s contestants, Michael J. Friday, had once allegedly lured her to an apartment complex entertainment room, where she believes she was drugged and sexually assaulted by another man.
The incident allegedly occurred last November, long prior to Friday’s involvement in The Proposal.
“How are we supposed to find out about something that’s never been reported??? #TheProposal”, Fleiss tweeted Saturday.
Comments from followers weren’t exactly sympathetic. “Background checks?...

ABC's reality dating shows may not provide the most realistic dating expectations, but they do make for great television. The Bachelor franchise just launched its latest series, The Proposal, and we're already hooked. The show is hosted by Bachelor alum and former pro football player Jesse Palmer (best known to Bachelor fans for forgetting a woman's name during a rose ceremony), and he accurately describes the show as a "soulmate pageant." If you haven't watched the premiere yet, then you haven't yet met The Proposal's first match, Mike and Monica.

ABC has pulled next week’s Episode #2 of The Proposal after one of the male contestants was accused by a Milwaukee woman of facilitating a sexual assault against her last November.
“An allegation has been made against a contestant on next week’s episode of ‘The Proposal,’ said a joint statement from ABC and Warner Horizon. “While the accusation was not related to the contestant’s appearance on the program, we take it very seriously. ABC and the producers of ‘The Proposal’ are pulling the episode while this matter is under review.”
In a Facebook post yesterday (see it below), Erica Denae Meshke said that one of the show’s contestants – she later added a screenshot of contestant Michael J. Friday – helped to set up a situation in which, after meeting on Tinder, she was invited by Friday to the entertainment room of an apartment complex. When she arrived, Friday was with two older men.
