Welcome back!
Rob-O-Cop7 March 2022
A solid start to season six after far too long away.

Establishing some interesting points of difference with the new comers. Will patience and kindness be rewarded? Can it heal deep wounds based on unchanged stances. It feels like it's going to go horribly wrong. Ominously, impending.

Jamie and Claire were both solid and enjoyable to watch, as was Brianna, and Roger wasn't annoying so that's a bonus.

Loving that we've got a new series of this. Thanks for keeping the quality up.

Nice setup for the season

After binging the first five seasons. I found this episode to be great. Leaves it open for foes of the past and of new. It was great to see them continue right where they left off in season five. The final scene with Claire leaves me feeling Claire isn't quite as over the trauma of last season as she'd like people to believe. Can't wait to see where it is going to take us.

Interesting start definitely looking forward to this season
cassienr8 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Long time fan since the series aired back in 2014. The writers have definitely depicted Clair as such a weak character in the show but such a strong willed woman in the book. Before I continue, outlander is such a treat to watch a little romance, drama, history, sci-fi beautifully put together! My only grip is that Clair's roots in the book were not honored. Her strong willed tenacious spirt and Jamie's stubbornness, That's what made Jamie and Clair such a powerful dynamic! I don't know how she can recover as a character with the way she is being written now . Briana and roger this season seem to be heading down a more stable path as characters, seems like the chemistry between them has grown especially since there relationship started at such a rocky place. The side plots are interesting too definitely want to see where the writers are going with fergus and his clear alcoholism.

Master of Floggings
Gollum_Garden13 March 2022
Sam's performance as Jamie getting beaten at Ardsmuir was amazing ... Again ! Outlander never ceases to surprise with it's flashbacks of Jamie's floggings. Just when you think it's over, here comes another.

As a bonus, this episode had a second beating ! This time it was someone else's turn to get his punishment. And who better to beat him than the Flogging Meister, dear Jamie.

The tension in the air was palpable. The expressions on people's faces as they stood silently and looked at each other showed their anxiety. I held my breath as Jamie took off his belt. Amazing !!

1,000 stars for the floggings !

Outlander is perfect
jssantosdireito28 April 2022
There's nothing much to say, Outlander as always leaving us speechless. Caitriona and Sam as always giving us the besta performance.

The First EP was a little slow, bit little by little the plots were coming together which resulted in a season full of emotions.

Why the religion and new song?
michelle_kummer27 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge fan of Outlander and think Sam should be the next James Bond, his performance is always outstanding and he's so good looking!

Anyways the beginning of this season was a little confusing but it shows this Christie character a former inmate with Jamie. He's really annoying. Super religious and it's painful every time he comes on to the screen, along with his kids. Why did they have to come in to the show?

Clare as always is amazing, as are Marsali and Fergus.. as for Brianna and Roger they are growing on me, she was painful last season.

Last comment, why did they change the song! It was perfect as it was and now it's annoying.. if it's not broke don't fix it People!

Gets me excited
tinklegamingx7 March 2022
Me and the misses have watched this show since it aired and we love every moment of the show, not read the books on anything yet.

First episode of season 6 is surely a great opening to yet another great season.

Why the Negative Nellys? Season 6 is epic!
kennedyemk29 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First off, I was not a book reader before I started watching the series and only started listening to the audio version during Droughtlander. I stopped midway during 'A Breath of Snow and Ashes' to keep pace with the live series version and do not regret it.

For those who are book faithful, good for you! This is not the book! It is an adaptation, so please do not spoil the journey for the rest of us or overly criticize the producers and writers for making changes. A lot of work goes into giving us this stunning visual, and we should thank them for their efforts.

The song: The opening song changes each season, nothing new here. Remember in S2, when it changed with Claire and Jamie (and Murtagh) landed in France? I'd love to know the story behind why it changed to a male voice, then duet for S6. I thought perhaps it was because of storylines depicting the male POV with Fergus, Ian, and Jamie, but could be wrong after finishing the last episode this season.

The storylines: Brilliant! I can't remember a season where individual characters got as much attention with their backstory. We finally got to see their actors shine and I hope to see more of this.

The plot thickens: Malva vs Claire. Seems like a losing bet from the start, but the ghost of Malva is still throwing punches from beyond the grave.

Lionel Brown vs Claire: I'm beginning to hate this "man" more than Stephen Bonnet. His voice and that look make me want to throw things at my television, but he's not worth it, so. He is taking up way to much free space in Claire's head. I do hope she buries that ether along with her demons in the garden.

Lizzy and the twins: Wow. This is going to be interesting. And suddenly, no head bonnet? Is that a metaphor for losing her maidenhead? Interesting, indeed.

To Starz and the producers of the greatest show on Earth, please run it all the way through book 10!

Great Return
fgoettl28 April 2022
Great to see Outlander return. Picks up soon after the traumatic S5 finale. Claire is trying to recover from the horrible assault. An old for returns from Ardsmuir. Briana and Roger are adapting to life in the late 1700s.

Dull
vintagegeek13 March 2022
Still nothing moving forward. Same old infighting scenarios. Slow Soap opera. The Christie character is nothing but a catalyst for more religious boondoggling. Time to give up on this now. You can predict he'll create trouble for Claire's science as witchcraft, etc.

I hate the whippings
dollfacecrafter6 May 2022
The beating and the flogging and whipping, I just dont like them, sorry. I love this show and Jamie and Claire are so wonderful to watch. I like all the tension though, it seems realistic.

Show Writers with Power Trips
silvertonguedevil37 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've been a longtime fan of the book series and knew the show wouldn't be able to follow the books after they were made to shorten seasons at S2. That being said, the audacity of the writers to turn Claire into a drug user (and for Balfe to agree it a good move) is nothing short of infuriating. In one episode they've damaged a character so many women have related to. Even if she "recovers" from this stunt, Claire's overall character for the show is tarnished.

The introduction of the Christie family was well done. There could be an argument for the drawn out Ardsmuir flashback, but for those who haven't read the book, it provides the troubled backstory. Alexander Vlahos as Allan was a spot on casting choice. Overall an ok start, but fans expected better from the writers.

Droughtlander is over and Season 6 has been teed up perfectly
brendamaille30 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After such a long Droughtlander, it was so wonderful to have this phenomenal show back. Episode 1 was the perfect tee up to the rest of Season 6. The Ardsmuir Prison scenes introduced the Christie family and was a reminder of Jamie's time while he and Claire were separated and how he dealt with her loss. The show addressed the aftermath of Lionel's attack on Claire, Marsali and the Ridge in a way that was compelling and totally understandable. Executive producer Matt Roberts and the author Diana Gabaldon both addressed the book readers who are upset that the show diverted from the books regarding Claire's self-medicating. The books are the books and the show is the show. Diana acknowledges it was not written that way but she supported the change. I, for one, find it very compelling and totally believable. Many trauma survivors have also chimed in to say that to have Claire move on as if nothing happened would be to fail to recognize adequately the magnitude of such a life changing experience. As usual, the cast is superb. Each actor embodies his/her character so effectively that you feel you have been transported into their place, time and their lives. I cannot wait to see how all the storylines of this season unfolds.

Echoes
bobcobb30110 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Like so many Outlander episodes, especially season premieres, it starts off slow, but then hooks you right back in a hurry. The danger to the compound is going to be great as is the continued story between the main stars.
