Warning: Spoilers
Since Jack was first introduced...even as an unborn baby, the idea of Lucifer's son has been so exciting. And I think you guys did a great job with it. I've come to absolutely love Jack so, long story short...don't kill him!!!!

Jack shines

This is the first episode where i really really enjoyed watching Jack. Jack and Dean's storyline was a 10/10 for me, funny, mystery, different. I am not sure but it seemed like a reference to Gamble's "you" in the start. Now...i don't care for au Charlie, not my Charlie. It was a closed thing but that's not my problem, Sam is. This whole hunting thing is. Since S11 it seemed like Sam was settling into the idea of hunting being the end, i was fine with it for the most part...but it idk feels like Sam would absolutely not say this to someone who wants peace in their life...He's gotten real weird with hunting.

One story would have been enough
jagborpapsyket19 August 2019
The case that Jack and Dean worked was fairly interesting and Jack was really funny and cute in this episode. That being said, the episode would have been a lot better if Sam had joined them and Charlie wasn't there. Her story was completely pointless, I don't know why they bothered to bring her "back" (yeah I know it's not her but you know what I mean). I liked her a lot in the first few episodes she was in but then I though that her character and storyline had run its course and I didn't really mind when she died. I know it upset a lot of fans though, and maybe that's why they brought her back. AND that would have been fine had she filled a purpose to the story but she doesn't. Like, it's not even her, just a vague copy of the old Charlie and don't get me wrong like I said I used to like her a lot, but she had no place in this episode. I really think this show needs to let characters go sometimes. I know they say that "death doesn't always mean the end on supernatural" but maybe sometimes it should. Also, the case they worked was not interesting at all, a giant fly man come on?

Great episode!!

Warning: Spoilers
Amazing to see some bonding between Dean and Jack.. as well as between Sam and Charlie.. the humor in this episode was on point.. i love the parallels they show between Dean and Jack.. both blaming themselves for what happened with Michael..

Should have been two episodes.
CubsandCulture23 October 2021
I like both of the individual stories a lot in this episode but I find each is shortchanged because of having to share time with the other. You can for example imagine a stronger journey with Sam and Charlie 2.0 if a more overt fight was included between the characters. Likewise, Harper's turn comes out of left field and I feel like a brief moment of set-up should have been included.

As it is now the episode is two diverting but undercooked plots. The show could have risked dropping a Winchester completely now and then.

Like the Big Bang theory meets Supernatural.

Warning: Spoilers
Like the Big Bang theory meets Supernatural. Well there is not much of a story line. More about sharing feelings. No great Dean moments. Well Optimism is more like Harry Potter and or Big Bang then an old school horror movie episode. The humor was strange and just did not work. The zombie boy friend just did not work. I saw what the director was trying, but misses the old school homage of older horror movies. Well, Friday the 13th style horror movies, The Thing and few others are horror influences which can not be mixed with social awkwardness, and un cool characters. Dean was just super cool in all situation, which creates levity, humor and balance to horrific situations. Sort of like humor before or after the punch in the gut. A trade mark in the old school horror movies. Optimism is the all humor, with out the scare episode. 3 out of 10 stars.
