Good, but...
arh-5174913 December 2019
This show is good... to a kid who's never seen the original. To a person who has grown up with Clifford, it just pales in comparison to the old show. I don't have anything against them playing pretend, it's just that I would appreciate it if they would also tie in more of the friendship values that the original series taught. I also don't really mind Clifford's voice because since John Ritter's gone, having the exact same voice is too much to ask for. I am also iffy on how Emily Elizabeth and Clifford talk to each other. I usually like shows where animals and humans communicate, but with Clifford it just seems weird.

The thing I miss the most are the characters. Emily Elizabeth and Clifford are the only characters from the original series (although I'm not sure about Emily Elizabeth's new look). The rest of the cast are replaced by entirely new characters. Yes, I didn't really like Mac and Jetta when I was younger, but I guess the saying is true anyway: You don't really notice how much you appreciate someone until their guy. And yes, I even miss Mr. Bleakman. He was more like Mr. Wilson then a complete jerk.

In conclusion, your kids might find this show interesting; however, I do like the original better.

Disappointing
BoxwoodExpress7 December 2019
When this was announced in May of 2018, I was excited since I loved the original 2000 cartoon as a kid. I even have a plush of Clifford, and read many of the books.

However, this reboot turned out to be disappointing, very much so. It can easily be compared to the Powerpuff Girls reboot in terms of how far removed from the original it is. In this review, I will eloquently explain my points instead of insulting everything with no evidence. Also, here's a disclaimer: The people working on this show are super talented and I wish no harm on them (unlike some people on this site...), and the show clearly had a lot of heart put into it, however I just can't get into it.

If you look at some of the older Clifford books, and compare it to this reboot, you'll notice that they don't really look similar. Instead, this reboot's animation and art style looks like a poor man's Peg + Cat. I know it's by the same company (100 Chickens) but that doesn't mean you have to make the shows look nearly identical. The tweening also looks off in some scenes, like in the theme song when the kids are running. The character designs are pretty forgettable. The kids in the original show had memorable designs, but the characters in this show have the same body type (all skinny; no plus size people; so much for diversity, huh?) same head shape, just with a different skin tone and clothes.

Aside from the designs, the characters themselves are pretty bland. All the characters have the exact same trait: they're all nice. That's it, just nice. They have different interests, like sailing and music, but they're all goody two-shoes besides that. A show where everyone is a perfect angel is super boring and uninteresting, because there's no variety. The original show had jerks like Jetta, Mac, and Mr. Bleakman to contrast the relaxing, nurturing tone of the show. No such characters exist in the reboot.

Like I mentioned before, this reboot makes so many changes that it's hardly recognizable to the original. The original show had the plots of the humans and dogs separated. In the reboot, they're intertwined and it feels so unnatural. On top of that, Emily Elizabeth and Clifford talk to each other, which, too, feels unnatural. It ruins the sense of dramatic irony that the original series had, that the humans didn't know that the dogs could talk. T-Bone and Cleo were removed from the reboot in favor of Bailey and Tucker, as were Jetta, Charley, and Vaz in favor of Samantha, Pablo, and Jack.

This was extremely disappointing, and I can recommend many other kids stuff to watch (that are good, contrary to popular belief) such as the original, Clifford's Puppy Days, Ready Jet Go, Steven Universe, Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, Its a Big Big World, Bluey, Gravity Falls, Green Eggs and Ham, Blue's Clues and You, Molly of Denali, Nature Cat, Oswald, Xavier Riddle, Let's Go Luna, Frozen II, Andi Mack, Gumball, Infinity Train, Bee and Puppycat, and Maggie and the Ferocious Beast

Sweet + full of total jams
angluce18 January 2021
Clifford and all the other characters on Birdwell Island are so sweet, and through their adventures do a lot of social-emotional learning. The animation style is cute and simple without looking low-budget or low-quality. The voice acting is good-- the adults sound kind, the kids sound like kids, and they're all distinct. Clifford's voice is earnest and full of gentle inflection, and his doggie pals' voices are cute without being annoying. I also like the diversity of the characters, and the variety of interests Emily Elizabeth and her friends explore through reading books from the Library boat (an actual boat!)

Something extra special about this show is the music. There's a different song for every episode, and they're all total jams. The characters sing in the style of a musical-- the songs speak to the central theme or conflict of the episode, and move the plot along. So good.

I've seen a lot of reviews slamming this reboot for various reasons, but I really think this one is far superior. The characters are more distinct and three dimensional than in the original cartoon, Clifford and his doggie pals are more Iikeable, his relationship with Emily Elizabeth is sweeter, and the episode plots are far more interesting. I'd say overall, it's got a more wholesome tone and a better production value.

I really hope more episodes are produced, and that someone finally realizes they need to release a soundtrack!

What gives with the look? The show is now ablest.
animalusa15 March 2020
I do not like the new style at all. Clifford looks like he was drawn in the dark by a drunk first year art student. Every time I see the uncolored white bits on his nose I make a disgruntled noise and my lips involuntarily curl in disgust. At first I thought they were trying to be retro but the original books at least colored in his nose all the way. Also Emily Elizabeth looks nothing like she did in the original books. However it still looks very raw unrefined and more like characters in development. The point of a reboot is to improve on what's there NOT draw back the quality to the old original books. I do not see why they couldn't just keep the old drawing style while introducing the new lesbian characters. I miss T bone and his chubby dumb sheriff. I miss Cleo being over the top with her cuteness. I miss Mac being as stuck up and snoody as Jetta. But most of all Ii miss the three legged dog, KC. KC was out there repping the disabled community and making it normal to be disabled way before other shows caught on. Now he's gone along with the two little kids that were Emily's friends in wheelchairs. I'm angered and disappointed that these trailblazers are no longer around to help teach children that being disabled makes you no different than anyone else. Also I can't help but notice that the colored kids are gone now. I'm sorry I don't think slapping in a gay couple and calling it good is an excuse for this. If there is room in the world for disabled people, colored people and gay people, there is room for them both in your age old reboot, PBS.

We love DOG
bevinb-3364615 December 2020
This show is my favorite thing ever. Nothing else holds my child's interest - no TV show, no activity, no outing. But if I say "Time for dog!," then she comes running and I can accomplish something while she's entertained by a classic cartoon that sings and teaches wholesome lessons. I could not ask for more (except maybe a lot more seasons!).

Terrible remake
imdb-6013 December 2019
I loved the original series. Every episode kept my attention with stories that were enjoyable and characters that you could relate to.

This new series is horrible. The animation looks like it was fine by a fifth grader .. no wait, a fifth grader would have been better. The stories don't hold my attention and the new characters are boring.

If they brought the original characters back and replaced John Ritter, who passed away, with another voice, it would have been great. What were they thinking ??

Hopefully the movie version coming out in 2020 will have more imagination put into it.

Great songs and is the kids favorite!
dragoneatstaco5 January 2021
This is not for the child now adult that grew up with the old Clifford! Was the old one teaching kids how to be mean? maybe yes, maybe not, but at the toddler age there is not need for that negativity, the drama. To me, as an outsider, I did not grew up with Clifford, this new series is better, is positive, the songs are awesome for a toddler to sing along, it has a simple story easy to follow.

My toddler girl chooses this one over the old one, even my 8 year old, when he is stuck watching it with his sister, prefers this one.

For the kids this is the winner.

Awful
doritoreiss25 October 2021
This show is awful. The characters are irritating, the stories are awful, and the music is terrible too. The original Clifford is better. I wish the creators would abandon this and go back to making Peg + Cat. THAT show was good.

No more bullies
kellielulu24 August 2022
I noticed this one doesn't have the bullies and snobs like Jetta, Mac and Cleo. I never knew kids that liked those characters. It's also good that Emily Elizabeth and Clifford can talk to each other and understand each other.

Bad remake
mia9741710 April 2020
I grew up watching this show. I remember watching it everyday before school. I was excited to learn that they were remaking my favorite childhood show that my son could watch, but was disappointed with the outcome. I knew it wasn't going to be as good as the original with John Ritter and the other cast, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. They chose the wrong people to voice the characters. The show is just not the same and it'll never be as good as the original. I mean, Clifford can TALK to Emily Elizabeth!? Come on.

Very "Broadway"
stevieamazon21 April 2020
I enjoy all of the songs. They are catchy and fit the stories. Our toddler hums the song from the Aunt Violet episode while he plays.

Not good
truquantwitchtv10 July 2021
I don't like how the behavior and rude behaviors tours others.

In gen, the characters as the old ones aren't there no more.

Really dissapoited and miss how adorible and loving they are.

We're wholesome, now we got new ones.

Did I mention that the drawing loom off a bit whole lot.

Like nothing on the original version of books,tv shows, ETC Very disappointing PBS.

Overhated
ACheesyQuesadilla7 January 2022
This show does not deserve all the hate that it gets. Almost all of the people you'll see hating on this show are people that are overly nostalgic of the 2000 series. I will admit that when I saw this show for the first time, I was surprised at how much changed, but I learned to adjust to the changes, and now it's my favorite PBS Kids show. I think if more people gave it a chance and didn't make their opinion off of seeing just one episode, it could get better ratings and reviews. The songs are absolute fire and advanced for a children's show, and come in at the correct times. The show itself is advanced, and can appeal to teens way beyond it's age range, like me. It's entertaining, and isn't too childish. In short, it's definitely a must watch show, and you should give it a real chance before you make your opinion on it.

A MASSACURE of the original
gowivict31 July 2022
It didn't bring any original(from what I know) voice actors.

And WAY too many songs; don't need a million songs in 1 episode.

Its the same annoying as Pinkalicious and Peterrific but that's not this review.

It gives me a headache and make me wanna change the channel but I don't wanna because my little bro watches it.

Save yourself the migraine and don't watch it.

This wasn't made for you to compare to the original
tadbooher5 August 2020
This was made for your children to enjoy. It is a wonderful show for my daughter. She loves the songs, which are delightful. The visual effects are stunning with exceptional illustration. If you want to watch the show of your childhood, knock yourself out. This is a fresh take on a classic. Enjoy it for what it is rather than to bash it because is different from what you grew up with.

Why was this made again?
perruca14 August 2021
I feel this show sucks.i feel like that because 1.they sing way too much even for the primary demographic to handle.2.everyone is too nice, I know there are nice people out there but there are also not so nice people and I feel this show ignores that.

Thanks for coming.

Just awful
notadoctor-3622229 January 2021
The main characters are super annoying, constantly having conflict with one another, I think it's teaching snotty and rude behaviors. And why is the girl's name Emily Elizabeth? Why can't it just be one name? And the attempt at diversity is borderline offensive - the not nice girls have dark hair and the good characters have light hair. 3 episodes of this are 3 too many. No way will I let my child watch this again.

An Enjoyable Kids Program
kodiakgt10 March 2020
Compared to a lot of the flashier and more frenetic kids programs to come out recently, this is a refreshing and pleasant experience. We were not huge Clifford fans growing up, but our children love this show and I would recommend it.

Awful!
ellesassy-768-4908934 January 2021
The old Clifford cartoons were both great. This version is dumbed down and won't appeal to older children at all. The great thing with the old ones are that they appealed to young and old. This one with the googly eyed father (I know he's wearing glasses but it doesn't match with how the other cartoons are drawn) and the awful singing is terrible. I mean I can sit through the old ones as an adult and I actually enjoy them as a did as a child. This is a copy of Daniel Tiger format and not a good one. Very disappointed.

Best Ever
prashkommu15 July 2020
May I just say that this is the best show ever made. Even The InBESTigators can't top it, and I love The InBESTigators so much that I would rate it 697/(1/500).

Disappointing & annoying
dejavu-284214 August 2021
I really loved the old version of Clifford. We loved the characters & all the story lines. Now comes the new version. It doesn't hold a candle to the old Clifford. Story line is a bit lame and the constant singing is over the top. A few songs would be okay but the whole show is nothing but annoying songs.

What was wrong with the old characters. I know you'll never bring back the old characters, but if you want this show to survive changes really need to be made. We miss T- Bone, Cleo, Jetta, Charlie, & Mach. Please bring them back!

Less than worthless
neongen5 July 2022
Just getting involved with the original and Clifford's Puppy Days and surprise ! I found this series which is on PBS Kids. The first shows are more than a bit cheesy but there is also charm with some good characters and voice acting.

The 2019 remake is dull, dull in story, animation style ( cheapo ) characters, songs and voice acting. So bad it does not need to be seen. Voice of Clifford is so bad it's painful. Watch the old shows on the net.

Absolutely TERRIBLE reboot
grex-179592 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When I first saw this reboot, I knew it was going to be bad. First of all, the new art style is horrible. Now the characters have these weird eyes. And it's SO ANNOYING HEARING THEM SING EVERY 10 SECONDS!!! THEY DON'T NEED TO KEEP SINGING THE SAME THING!!! WE GET IT!!! Terrible show, the 2000's series was better.

An improvement from the cartoon from the early 2000s
deuscariot21 March 2020
Vastly less annoying than the older cartoon. Pretty chill and doesn't feature the insane energy as some other kids shows.
