"Dior: Dior Addict" is of course a little promotional short film for the perfume brand Dior, which they made totally sure you see by including it twice in the title even. So you may think Dior is at the center of it all and you're probably right. But just as much is director Harmony Korine and he made this 2 years after his perhaps career-defining movie Spring Breakers and as this one here is five years old already, that makes Spring Breakers seven years old. Wow, much more than I expected. How time flies. Anyway, it is not too surprising to me that they got Korine here as the man in charge because he was a prolific short film director already at the early stages of his career. And his style is somewhat easy to identify. He always tends to go a bit all in when it comes to sets and backgrounds, especially in terms of color. Still I personally don't really think he is the most talented filmmaker and this really short one we have here (80 seconds of action) certainly won't change my mind. Lead (and only) actress is Sasha Luss. You have never heard of her? Welcome in the club as we say here in Germany. Neither have I. I see she has not been too prolific, appeared in a Kanye West music video and this year played the title character is a new movie with mediocre reception, but that was seen by some at least. I really cannot say if she has star potential from this one we got here. Even if she is in it from start to finish, it never feels about her, but rather about Korine's take and of course about Dior. But I saw she also worked with Chanel, is probably more of a model than an acterss, so that explains it why there is no Keira Knightley or Kristen Stewart in this one. They went for the big name, well mildly big name, director for it instead. Overall, it did nothing to me I must say. Another rather unsatisfying element was the music. Not to my liking at all. So I give it a big thumbs-down. Skip unless you're a Korine completionist. And even then watch it only as one of the last installments to his career. You're honestly not missing much.
