I recall in the '70s that Danish imports like "Bedroom Mazurka" were termed "family porn", hardly "The Waltons" but upbeat, fresh and friendly erotica compared to the American product, for which sleazy was then and now a term of praise. Stormy Daniels as filmmaker follows that same dictum, in an excellent title from Wicked Passions about a girl and her horse: "Unbridled".
Known to the public as a porn actress and stripper, Stormy Daniels has more significantly built a career over the past decade as a prolific writer-director, and "Unbridled" is one of her best efforts. ln terms of production value, story and acting it plays just like a mainstream feature film, only with time out for the requisite five XXX sex scenes of an Adult movie.
I place it in the genre of Americana, which her company Wicked Pictures has successfully used in such movies as Red Ezra's "Roadblock" and Brad Armstrong's "Crossroads". The intentionally throwback (read: corny) story has Stormy's dad Wes Montgomery (an inadvertent tribute I suspect to that all-time great jazz guitarist) played by cameraman Jake Jacobs facing foreclosure of the family ranch by evil neighbor underplayed nicely (NonSex) by T.J. Bruno.
Stormy has fled the coop years ago, living as a successful advertising exec in NYC, but she's called back to the ranch to help save the day after her younger sister and jockey Lyra Law is injured and unable to appear in the annual Big Star Horse Trials seeking crucial prize money for daddy. Stormy will fill in for her, with the help of her old flame Marcus London who's a master trainer, riding her mother's old horse Leo.
Will Stormy save Thunder Creek Ranch and foil the bad guys? You betcha.
Sex scenes are up to snuff, with Stormy unveiling a much bigger body (the banquet circuit shows) than in her salad days, benefiting from a natural evolution that has made her formerly hard, fake-looking big tits look floppier and more natural.
