A couple of days ago I watched "These Old Bones," the eighth episode of Netflix's "Heartstrings" based on Dolly Parton songs. If Kathleen Turner isn't nominated for an Emmy Award for her acting in "These Old Bones", something is wrong. I'm a grown man and I laughed and cried at her scenes.
This movie-length episode could have been as formulaic and corny as a Hallmark movie. But it wasn't, due to the wonderful characters, the writing, the beautiful setting and the heartfelt acting. It all added up to immersion in an emotional feel-good TV movie that I didn't want to end.
I enjoyed all the Heartstrings episodes, especially "Two Doors Down" and "J.J. Sneed." But "These Old Bones" is far and away the best of the series. I know because two days after watching it, it has stayed with me and I can't stop thinking about it. In fact, I loved it so much I find myself wishing that they would turn "This Old Bones" into a series of its own. Or at the very least make a sequel.
I don't want it to end!
