GaTa is Lil Dicky's real onstage hype man.
Prior to this show, Dave Burd's only experience with acting was in his own music videos. Despite having no experience with writing, producing or starring in a sitcom, according to co-star Taylor Misiak, Burd "Is extremely professional on set and VERY RARELY breaks character." Burd also gives his co-stars room to improvise so they can inject their own personality into their characters, especially GaTa and Benny Blanco.
In a 2021 interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", Dave Burd reveals that when he was preparing for his crying scene in Season 2, Episode 8, "The Burds", he had his real-life parents record and send him a video of them pretending to say goodbye for the last time. While filming the actual scene, Burd wore a Bluetooth earpiece, listening, while a production assistant standing off the side, held up an iPad of the videos of his parents playing over and over.
Some main cast and guests stars are actors who have appeared in Lil Dicky's music videos.
The show's official soundtrack (and in-show album) "Penith" was released on January 19th, 2024. This album contains all original songs from seasons 1-3.
