Having grown up in the 50's, I came under the spell of Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone, the Wild West and the history of the trappers, the revolutionaries, the explorers, the pioneers and the lawmen that forged a nation from raw undeveloped wilderness.
One couldn't help but notice the importance that weaponry played in protecting a homestead, getting food and just managing to live another day.
I have held a lifelong fascination with the artistry and engineering of 18th- and 19th-century firearms. And, I've loved all the DIY and forging shows, so Master of Arms is a dream come true!
The show is just starting, but I really hope it will develop and grow as it explores ever more challenging projects, while providing background of their design and historical significance. The hosts bring diverse professional expertise and enjoyable personalities, who are the heart of the show and the stewards of the history.
It is wonderful to watch people of different backgrounds and generations preserve the skills and grit that built our great nation.
