All my 5 stars are for the leading actress! She did a great job! Also for the scene where she cries while drinking wine and the tear mixes with the alcohol dripping from her mouth. Beautiful take!

The idea of this is very good and presented a great opportunity in the right hands. Unfortunately these weren't the right hands.

Up until close to the end I was trying to figure out who killed her and it wasn't till close to the end it dawned on me and I thought then what a great idea. Poorly executed. Could have been so good.

The problems were many. The supporting cast were unconvincing. Their roles were weakly defined and they seemed to spend most of the time in the background waiting for the lead, as odd as that sounds. All the guys were madly in love with her but there was no evidence of why.

Not all alcoholics are obvious, some are high functioning. For this story to succeed they needed to show her at her worst, maybe the messy emotional female that are typical in her age group, the binge drinking, the constant morning hangovers, something that I as the audience could hang my hat on. Instead she was portrayed as a fun girl and the only next morning hangover was after she'd been drugged and raped. This didn't advance the story as it didn't happen due to her alcoholism although could have happened to anyone. The final night of trying to give up and failing by having hallucinations and a binge session wasn't convincing because we hadn't seen her at her worst.

Written correctly I feel this actress could have carried it.

I gave it a 5 because it was a good idea, an important story but handled ineptly.

I have seen worse movies.

I found the main character a bit refreshing - a woman with a few different lovers and an addiction, not something you see on a regular basis and I liked the fact that the movie wasn't shaming her for that.

There is one plot hole that bothered me though. Right at the beginning of the movie we see how people react to the news of her death and we see Neil hearing it from a friend during some kind of gathering. However, later in the movie his wife says they were driving home when they heard the news.

I mean, it's not actually a plot hole, and it doesn't change the course of the movie, but it did bother me a little.

All in all, this is not the best movie you will ever see, but it's also not that bad that it will make you reach for a bottle of something cheap and strong.

This girl is a narcissist and a truly stupid one at that, not worth anyone else's time and effort. Not to wish the worst for her, but a large slap across the face would have been a good start. And where were her married lovers in all this? Idiots all.

Questionable perspective by an all-knowing narrator who becomes the film's title. How did the film-makers know what she said, did and felt?

A young, ambitious and scrupulous law student lives a devil-may-care lifestyle in the bustling streets of New York, juggling her job, addictions and 3 (or more) baes while avoiding her suburban family!

Truth is in the eyes of the beholder, and yet what we're shown beggars belief for a 'based on a true story'. The titular character jumps from one man's bed to another on the same night, even after being supposedly roofied and raped she falls into a married man's lap! No judgement here, yet the film pushes one onto you from the get go!

A film about many addictions, afflictions and ample admonitions about affairs in the Big Apple! Murder, manslaughter or neglect, the cause of her demise is left up to the viewer's perspective: barely!

I can't believe the reviews! 🙄 I think most are projecting so much when reviewing!

And, as the reality of life is; there are so many people like Julia nowadays. And if some lady here said 'she is worst than 16 y old..' where do you live lady??

There are so many train wreck girls out there.

And men no less.

This girl had problem with drinking and also with making life less lonely with all sorts of men, where drinking definitely was a big helping hand.

I know many men who sleep around and not even need to be hammered daily at all.

And as I hear, 'which man would not do that? Especially if he is not married and is single.

If this is normal, how is not this Tory touching reality around us, where other movies are just trying to be slightly rubbing reality or other movies having different focus are not so 'offensive' because the sleeping with whoever person there is not the main focus.

People should really look at the point this movie is making rather than their personal hate towards behaviour that is anyway so common these days.

Whoever tells me that old people who booze and sleep around are having more sense at times in their life than this woman might had.. honestly where do you live? In pink bubble???

Only to go to few dates off dating app can get you pretty miserable, should someone be depressed and joined with alcohol-trouble is up.

Also seeing how many troubled and on surface successfully starting young people there are only deeply quite empty and drug addicted - people should just wake up.

There are many people like her (men very much included even with one night stand non stop) who are living mess. It does not hurt to show the actual stupidity and emptiness of it, at least she was aware of it.

The self narrating was annoying at times.

The girl in question isn't that interesting. The story isn't that unique either - no unusual murder. It's just about a girl who mixed pills and booze and drowned in her tub. The story shows her various lovers, straight laced, married, douche bag lawyer, etc. The actress Caitlin acts well.

In the end though this is Not worth making a movie about.

When I started watching this movie I thought it was a little strange that the lead who died was telling her own story. I thought how? I kept watching as I was curious and intrigued as to how it was written. I sense a lot of misconception from other viewers just by reading some of the reviews. This movie is about a woman who needed help. She was suffering from depression that she used alcohol, sex and drugs to get her through. She had no self esteem and could not see her self worth. No one understood or saw what was happening to her or what she was going through. It is actually a sad movie. I felt sorry for her. She seemed like a nice person and fun person to be with. She just didn't have true friends. The actress that played Julia was awesome. She portrayed the role well and it took me to her journey. It's a good movie!

I've seen a lot of bad movies but this one takes the cake. I guess I should've read some reviews before I started watching!

Acting was fine but the writing really gave the characters no justice whatsoever. The movie spends about an hour and ten minutes sharing a back story to the main character (pretty much only focusing on her love life), about ten more minutes of her death, and the last six minutes to share the part of the story where she heavily overdosed. At no point in the movie did I feel like this girl was actually murdered which is what the movie was trying to portray. The "suspects" really seemed to have no motive. Like sure the ex-wife but she's was shown in about two parts of the movie? No one else really had a realistic motive to kill this girl unless they were a sociopath who just got bored one day (so obviously not the case; no signs of a crime of passion).

I feel as though the movie told the real story horribly, it was like a teen-movie (I guess hence why it is TV-14). I understand they wanted to establish the back story of a person may have a life full of people but is still struggling alone... but seriously this poor girls story is made out to be some teen drama. Honestly just disappointed I'll never get that hour and twenty-six minutes of my life back, for a movie that actually could've been told in a much more enjoyable and meaningful way.

This is another movie I found enticing after reading what it was all about. I didn't really feel this movie was a psychological thriller which is what it was labelled as. The movie was about a young woman who didn't seem to have much respect. She seemed to like older men; specifically married men and cheaters it seemed.

The movie overall wasn't very good at all in my opinion. The movie didn't give any background on the main character to give you information on why she is the way she is that lead to her drinking. From start to finish you know very little about her besides the obvious.

When I saw the movie being labelled as a "psychological thriller" it caught me by suprise, because, was it? Not for any moment in time did I suspect any or her "lovers" to harm her in any way. The movie never gave the vibe there was going to be a murder. And, where was the twist? There was no twist in this one. At the end of the movie she goes to explain how she was alone the night she died and that was literally all. It ended as she was mixing alcohol with pills for withdrawl which later lead to her death in the bath as Chuck was away.

The story was bland and the only "psychological" thing about this movie was at the end when she's talking in third-person about how her death could have been on purpose or by accident due to mixing the pills and booze. The end basically had you assume for yourself.

Such a shame that this movie could've been executed much better.

The narrations were annoying. And uncalled for. Script was weak, acting was ok though expected much more from Jason Patric.

I'm Not even sure how this girl had time for work, being in bed so much with different men.

The married man relationship was pretty well played. The one with her boss (which later he claimed to love her?) was so superficial.

We didn't get any back story on what drives a young woman to being bulimic and alcoholic? Though I wouldn't class 1-2 bottles of red wine a night alcoholic.

So many holes and she didn't just need rehab but psychiatric help. To deal with Demons.

What led to her death? Because boo hoo. None of the men she kept on a string were available for one night??

Entirely selfish girl (yes a girl) expecting people to jump when she said jump.

Maybe if you're drying out you need to be with people who really care. Not on yr own. Like her family instead of relying that all these men she thinks will save her.

Uggh more I could say. But yes. Weak script and storyline. True story or not.
