The subtitle of the second season, "Infamy" may derive from Franklin D. Roosevelt famous speech on Pearl Harbor "Yesterday, December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, the United States was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval forces of Japan."
This second season is set roughly a century after the first season; specifically, this first episode takes place 94 years after the events of season one's first episode. Different seasons of this anthology series are not connected in terms of plot but merely of genre (fictional horror stories in real historical settings).

The opening scene - in which a woman kills herself by sticking a hairpin through her ear - was the first image that came to Alexander Woo's mind when he was conceiving the series. Try as he might, he couldn't come up with a better alternative.
