Heartbreaking...
zkiko20 March 2019
I haven't seen many documentaries ( If any) showcasing the aftermath of Syria after the devastation and terror of IS and after the horrible airstrikes which have caused so many deaths. I feel here in the West we or most of us don't even care so much about these people, and see them as less than.. These people shown in the documentary are broken, lost and trying to just be in a completely destroyed Syria. They all have lost many family members. Some know of their mom, dad, sister or borther etc that they are dead and they try to find their body's to give them a burial. Others hope and cling on to the question mark of them not knowing for sure if they have died. Like this mother holding on to some hope, that her son might still be alive, even if the chance of that is very minor. She - a previous teacher in Syria - looks everywhere on a daily basis for her son. She even scours abandoned IS prisons to see if there is a note or something written on the wall by her son. Heart wrenching! Or the man who goes into buildings to try and find mines to deconstruct them , equipped with nothing but a flashlight app on his phone. He does this so children won't be harmed that go inside the buildings. His words about why and how are just heartbreaking and admirable. Pfff.. this world is insane and hypocritical.
