The title "Chloe x Halle: The Kids Are Alright" here gives a decent summary of what to expect, namely a music video involving Chloe and Halle, two African American sisters, who are mostly famous through a television kids show I think in which, however, they do not even play the lead characters. Still I guess apparently they are popular for an attempt to turn them also into the next big thing music-wise. Or at least cash in a bit on themw hile they are still familiar faces. Anyway, I saw there is a three-minute version and a ten-minute version of this one and taking into account what the running time states here on imdb, I went for the latter. I generally think the more the merrier, but probably not too much would have been lost had I watched the short version. I thought it was really generic. Admittedly the girls are not the worst singers, even if I don't know how much was really them and how much autotune was included in here. One of them was around the age of 20 when this was made, the other a bit younger still, will turn 20 next year. I preferred the one with the deeper voice singing-wise. But that is pretty much all the positive I can say. The music video does look pretty stylish at times, but overall, it really loses itself in spectacular (angel) costumes, effects and desperately artistic shots that feel as if they take itself far more seriously than they have any right to. Lyrics nothing better to say here. I mean I guess the two sure had to stay with their roots, which explains the hip-hop / gangster style occasionally, but lines like the one thatg is repeadet many times about how they have a lot of money definitely won't cut the cake. The rating here on imdb is just as telling as the number of votes this one has. It has been on Youtube for almost exactly 1.5 years now to the day and scored easily under a million views, which may still sound much, but compared to really other big stars (who admittedly sometimes suck too), it is nothing and equals pretty much the statement that nobody has seen it. I kinda struggle with seeing Chloe and Halle having a career in the industry in the long run, but maybe they can prove me wrong. At least it is safe to say they are not the worst aspectg about this entire thing. The director is Cara Stricker by the way. Take a look at her body of work and you will see that she sure tried everything in order to find out what her best field in the film/music industry may be, but I guess judging from this one here, directing is not it. So overall, I would not say it is a failure or so, but it is still fairly weak and thhere is hardly anything positive to this entire thing sadly. As for the ction/"plot" in the msic video, it is also disappointing. They went for way too much for anybody to understand what is actually going on. Sometimes less is more. Oh yeah, the generic (muscled Sisqo) African American love interest to the girls is included of course too, (not) surprisingly just one and not too. Overall, a thumbs-down. Don#t watch or only watch if you love their show. I think you should skip this one here.
