Bad, even for an ID game.

Sorry, but this game just isn't good. It's contrived, illogical, frustrating. The controls are wonky, I've encountered several A-Bugs. It's unpolished, even for a small independent developer. Don't waste your time.

List of problem's I've experienced with this game:

1: Neighbour AI gets easily stuck on objects sometimes making it impossible to get to certain areas of the house which are required to complete game.

2: Physics are to broken.

Example 1: walked on a box got flung into a wall and instantly died.

Example 2: neighbour ran over a box which flung him towards me making me get caught.

3: Hitboxes are often larger then they need to be causing the previous dot points to happen this is both a good a bad thing as the train tracks surrounding the house in act 3 would be a little bit harder to get and stand on.

List of good things I've experienced with this game:

1: I thought it was kinda funny when I saw the neighbour fling himself off a balcony and into the front of his house.

Alphas/Betas were better
rhonacameron-6395413 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The game is very good overall. I give it a 7 out of 10 because the game became a bit more boring when the official release came out. Don't get me wrong the Alphas were very fun and all of them were set in different houses and slowly unlocked more and more of the story. After Alpha 2 the games tone changed to more of a light hearted, puzzle game than a horror, puzzle game. Though the story stayed quite dark the game lightened up.

FINAL RELEASE STORY You play as a young boy who witnesses his neighbour locking someone behind his basement door. And of course the only logical thing for a child to do would to be to investigate. After finally unlocking the basement door you are chased by the neighbour down a corridor towards another locked door where you are inevitably caught.

You wake up in the second act severely injured and beaten. You then find your way to escape the basement and find the neighbours house with absurd structures built on it and a large fence around the outside. You finally escape while the neighbour gives you the death stare.

In the third act you move back to your old house across from the neighbours run down one. After falling asleep on your couch you wake up to hear screams and see your neighbours overly large, rebuilt house. You are then forced to once again investigate

Great Stealth/Horror game

A simple stealth/horror game for players to enjoy. Picked it up for the switch and it's great. If you ever just want to relax play this you'll get quite a kick out of it.

HELLO NEIGHBOR: A Silly Horror Game
Jinxxa_Wolf9 May 2023
HELLO NEIGHBOR was a fun game though not really extraordinary in my opinion. I personally played this with a group of friends (it's not a co-op or multiplayer game per say, but it was pretty fun to pass around the group). The story was very subtle and the game mechanics were pretty fun. It was a cat/mouse, hide-n-seek style game that was interesting because of the games AI which learns from the player, changing up its methods and responses to your actions. I really enjoyed that aspect as it made things much more unexpected.

I honestly didn't think of it as a horror game, but rather a bit of a sillier game with some suspense elements. It definitely has some darker subtext going on, what with the premise being about a young boy that finds his neighbor highly suspicious during a time when children are going missing. This game wasn't a traditional horror game and often I forgot it was one, supposedly, but there were some definite susensful moments scattered throughtout, and kudos to the game devs for trying to break the jaded horror mold. However, I think I would be disappointed if I had bought this with the intention of playing a more legit scary horror game. Overall it was a fun game. Not as bad as everyone says for sure.

STORY: 6/10 GAMEPLAY: 7/10 GRAPHICS: 6/10 ART DESIGN: 9/10 MUSIC: 7/10 OVERALL RATING: 7.0.

A interesting new take on the stealth horror home invasion thriller
stevenbwagner28 June 2019
The game has many takes and turns include solving puzzles sneaking and other items around the house as the game goes on it becomes darker and darker eventually my to the point where I don't know how it's going to go down but the video game art is outstanding the story is original but the only flaws in is it that when The neighbor in the video game is close to you the camera starts shaking of a frightening sound and implying a jump-scare overall 10/10this game is a must-have for those fans of horror and stealth horror video games this game is fun to play.
