Interesting ideas, but sort of dropped the ball.

Warning: Spoilers
This could've been better with another ending. I guess they ran out of funds. Also, the whole "let me explain everything" from the daughter in the last 10 minutes was too easy. Several things went on that sort of made me roll my eyes. Like, why would the father readily take random pills offered by his daughter who is already acting weird AF? He then begins to hallucinate and hear weird music, and doesn't put two and two together. At dinner later in the film, why would he and the medium let her pour wine but not drink it herself, knowing she's overtly hostile to both of them? Why didn't he catch the "I'll kill her" when she held the knife to her own throat? And - more importantly from a "watchability" standpoint - who wrote the gawdawful music for the film? It was truly terrible, generally inappropriate to any given scene, and a complete distraction at times. Meh. The kernel of the story was solid, but the execution was rather lacking. A $3 rental - could've been worse; could've been a lot better.

A Message from a Medium
RedQueenIMDB12 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Unbearably boring till one hour in when something finally happens. After which the story is completely unbelievable until the main character takes it back & apologizes, LOL. Then she lies some more, & then admits all the lies she's told - to the medium, not to her dad.

Twist at the end is okay for the lame problem teenager drama this movie is. Don't know why it's marketed as a horror. It's ultimately a real life tragedy.

I'm giving extreme prejudice to the 2 main characters looking like identical twins when they're not even related. Music box type chiming music annoyed me. Otherwise high production quality with no budget.

Great twist

Thoroughly enjoyed this movie, from the performances to the authentic story line.

I thought it was clever using both an unusual medical condition and also delving into the world of spiritualism.

I could even tell that the medium featured on screen was a real one, from the terminology they used (I visited a spiritualist church back in the day).

The ending was also a surprise, that I simply did not see coming. All in all it is a clever little film which has achieved a lot from what was clearly a meagre budget.

Well done to all involved - but I would now like to see what the creators would do with a decent budget. I would definitely watch more work from this team in the future.

Give this a watch!!

What a great movie. It was beautifully simple and a very good storyline. I loved that this was inspired by a true story - of course this peaked my interest from the outset. Very thrilling and absolutely exceeded my expectations. I found myself trying to figure out where the story was going and the twists and turns just cleverly fed into it. I don't want to give anything away, but would say just watch it with an open mind. Nearly fell off the couch at one twist as was definitely not expected and sadly almost clapped at another! It's not jump scary but creepy scary. Thoroughly enjoyed it and I will watch it again!

Great independent movie
douglastaylor-2071717 February 2023
If a fast paced action movie is what you are looking for well this movie is not for you, but if you are wanting something to have a slow burn and make you think then this is the movie for you, This takes you by the hand and leads you in to a twisted psychological journey down a rabbit hole of love, regret and psychological torture then it hits out another twist. Absolutely brilliant independent Scottish movie.

I have worked with two of the cast before (Adam Robertson & Lorraine Hudson) both are a pleasure to work with but as for their acting skills hats off to them and the other cast members..
