What fun! Lots of action in first episode: a carriage overturning sets up the story, ...who but Andrew Davies would have this accident interrupt the heroine's rabbit hunting? No Elmer Fudd, she! Though she is at first mistaken for a "new maid" by her future love-interest, all goes well...not! Lots of plot twists and dashed expectations, not your purist Austen but irresistible nevertheless. Recommend purchasing PBS passport so you can binge all 8 episodes, because you will not appreciate being on pins and needles from week to week! (ps--meant to post this review in the Episode 1 page..Episode 7 is my favorite for the lovely rowing scene with Sidney & Charlotte notwithstanding the intrusion of villainous Mrs Campion who serves as a rock in the road to true Austenesque love)

My absolute favorite episode of series 1

Wow, just wow! I could watch this episode over and over. The acting between Sidney and Charlotte is just perfect. Anyone who's heart doesn't melt at the end is made of stone. I couldn't get the episode out of my head

Beautiful episode!!!

Oh what an amazing episode I have no words to describe it. I loved everything about this episode it was incredible. The characters have grown so much since the first episode. I especially liked the scenes between the Parker brothers and I loved the boat race was absolutely hilarious. But as always seeing Sidney and Charlotte together was by far the best thing about the episode their scenes together were so beautiful and you could just feel the feelings they have for each other

Oh my word, watching the boat scene was wonderful. Mrs C and the regatta, and finally Sidney's epiphany. I just love this series.

This shows addiction is seriously crazy. I've binge watched multiple times! This is my favorite episode. Sidney, Charlotte, young Stringer.... the excitement of the Regatta!
