Quarterfinals 2

Warning: Spoilers
Some of these acts are lucky to be at this point, but some of them are still good.

The Sacred Riana is the best thing on television, even if it was not her best performance.

I am glad to see Glennis Grace finally getting exposure in the US. She has been an elite singer for years and deserves this.

My Take
MiketheWhistle22 August 2018
Some setup- Simon's comment that the end goal is Vegas is how I view every act from the get-go. So straight singers, group dance, laser lights, and such are simply too vanilla. Listening to the judges talk about Noah I think singers that do their own songs have a better chance with me because if they simply sing another's song, why not enjoy the original one? Are there singers in Vegas, yes; but I prefer variety type acts for the show.

It sure seems like Mel was hunting for a date especially with Da Republik or with Yumbo Dump. Simon actually sounded off she was available as if her dress didn't say it 1st.

I'm putting * for those that I think should go thru. "X" means definite toss.

*Makayla Phillips - Gold Buzzer by Heidi I think - As I've said before I dislike singing acts so I was definitely skewed against her. But for whatever reason I truly enjoyed it. Worth a $1M, not yet sold, but if she follows Mel and finds the right songs and pulls it into her own she might be the first straight up singer I'd go for ever.

Da Republik - I think I've finally figured out where these type of acts fall. Grease but without ONJ/Travolta. I hated the music and feel like it's simply a dressed up half-time show. Nothing against them as they all are talented but not a $1M act imo.

*Noah Gutherie - Again I hate plain singers, and I was not sold on him but I liked the song which he wrote so I think they gave him some uniqueness.

X Yumbo Dump- Wait, weren't the judges that buzzed the same ones that put them thru? Then two do a 180. I truly believe they only put these on the live show so as to fill out multiple live shows episodes and know these won't make it. Otherwise they are INSANE.

X Samuel Comroe - (Wish they would have had the backdrop working and not sure if they impacted). Haven't felt he was one of the strongest comics but had a bit of a niche. I want to like him especially with the dog jokes but agree with Heidi and don't feel like this was a decent set.

Voices of Hope - Golden Buzzer, not sure by who - OK, did they do well - yes. Do I think they're worth a $1M, sorry but no. They are definitely uplifting but simply not what I see as a Vegas act.

*Cat Act - I love all animal acts so I allow a much lower bar especially if you've ever tried to train an animal and in this case especially cats. Was this a great act, no, but I think should still go thru simply because they have a far better chance of having a huge step up.

Singer Grace - OK, this is an example of my singer pet peeve. Was she good - yes but not special or unique.

X The Sacred Nut - Ok, another act I believe they just put thru so as to have an act that can lose. I think in this case the girl is simply to whacked. If she came back to Earth a bit, it might have a better chance.

X Quin and Misha - Somebody's golden buzzer - not sure if just me but had video problems. Can this old/young lady kill me dancing. I would have said before yes, but this time it seemed to have her just being carried around by the 35 yo who definitely could kill me. Sadly I see them going home.

Front Pics - Not precisely sure what I watched. I think it reminds me of something when at Disney or Epcot. It simply may be that it's something that must be seen in person.

*Due Trans - Heidi was right that defintely one of the best acts of the night.

Definitely not strongest live show.
