Well this is one of the cases where it makes a lot of sense reading what the movie is doing. Not just what it is about (the theme is there in the title). The way the movie depicts the story though can be quite draining. We are talking about one person doing a tour de force - if that's how you want to call it. Again there might be others with way harsher feelings towards this.
Having said that, the main (and only) performance is quite something. It is up to the viewer if it is their thing to watch. It's more or less a theatrical sit through. Are you willing to do this? And can you blame the movie if it is not your cup of tea? It is not easy rating something like this. What are you going to say about the camera? The black and white, the framing, the language being used? Again read before watching, it is likely you know the story as it is (Frankenstein and Creature that is) - and then decide what you want to do (or rather if you want to watch this)
