Another trio of Dark Sky Films titles have made their way onto Screambox, joining previously dropped classics Willow Creek, Minor Premise, and The Deeper You Dig (more details).
Place your bets on who will win in Dark Sky Films’ Ghost Killers vs Bloody Mary, now streaming on Screambox.
Fabrício Bittar’s horror-comedy tells of four YouTubers with expertise in paranormal activity who attempt to tackle the mystery of a ghost that haunts a high school bathroom. This film is batshit insane.
The film is being sold in the spirit of Peter Jackson’s earliest work, “An exercise in hilariously bad taste, featuring gratuitous sex, violence, profanity and one seriously pissed-off ghost.”
The feature directorial debut of Paul Owens, Landlocked is a creative new horror movie that incorporates actual footage in the form of childhood home movies.
Now streaming on Screambox, Landlocked‘s use of a family’s original home videos...

We are *checks calendar* smack bang in that transition period between one month and another. A time when streaming services update their respective content libraries and gamers all over the world stand up and take notice of the new titles coming to Games With Gold and Ps Plus. Spoilers: the latter is bringing out the big guns for June 2020.
In the world of streaming, Netflix and Amazon Prime have already outlined the newcomers headed to their respective platforms next week; now, it’s Shudder’s turn to showcase exactly what subscribers can look forward to over the next four weeks.
Coming to us by way of Bloody Disgusting, the official list is packed with some delightful horror titles, including Rob Zombie’s cult favorite, House of 1000 Corpses. It’s the gruesome gore fest that later inspired 3 From Hell, the equally gruesome 2019 horror hit which joined Shudder back in February.

Ghost Killers vs. Bloody Mary is a Brazilian export from Fabrício Bittar (Como se Tornar o Pior Aluno da Escola) who also writes along with Andre Catarinacho and Danilo Gentili. It’s a slapstick comedy horror film that’s as juvenile and dumb as you’re going to find, but hey… I sometimes enjoy a juvenile and dumb comedy flick. Bring it on.
The story itself follows four kind-of-but-struggling-to-remain-successful YouTubers who, once they begin to make money on the YouTube platform start to see their subscriptions and views jumping ship and dwindling, so in order to attempt to pull back the subscribers and after a television deal, they take on the spooky case of Bloody Mary. I mean, that’s basically what this is all about. Four goofballs who...

Over the years we’ve had a ton of horror films that take the tropes of the TV “ghost hunter” show and use them to tell a terrifying tale. Although, for me, many of these films didn’t really work as a) they were often as schlocky as the shows they mirrored; and b) a Lot of them used the confines of found-footage, behind the camera views to tell their story. And I personally Hate the found-footage format!
However there seems to be a current tread for genre films to not only use the ghost-hunting format to tell a scary story but also to parody the trope as well. Recently we had Hoarders, which poked...
