Hype Williams' assumed first big-budget video
brandongates-6164311 March 2024
In my humble opinion, Feenin' is the video that truly began to showcase Hype Williams' creativity and presented a style that was unlike any other director of the time. From the special effects, to the lighting, and the overall movie feel, Hype really started his epic directorial run with this video. With Feenin' being the second single from Jodeci's second album Diary of a Mad Band, it's assumed that Hype had a larger budget to work with for this project. Although Flava In Ya Ear would become more renowned, Hype displayed that "Film Noir" style previously in the videos for the M. O. P. Smash, "How About Some Hardcore" and cut-scenes of GraveDiggaz "Diary Of A Madman". Here we were able to see the some of the infamous epileptic lighting, cameos including Snoop Dogg, Treach, and Williams himself, and beautiful color tones throughout the video. Enjoy!!
