Northern gothic mystery
jar-econ20 May 2019
In a remote northern town the daughter of the uranium mining company's head was found dead. Moscow investigator arrives there to solve this case. In this tundra wilderness he will oppose criminal underground of the small town as well as something that seems to be beyond our world. I found the idea of this show quite interesting, and I wasn't disappointed after I've watched it. The commercial says that it's Russian "Twin Peaks", but that's just an attempt to benefit from popular title. Actually, creators of the show tried to mimic Scandinavian series like "Svartsjön" or "Fortitude", and I must say that they succeeded. This series is a really good example of Scandinavian mystery genre. Beautifully shot and well-paced, each episode makes you want to watch the next one. Plot and acting is OK, but I guess it's not supposed to be the main hit of the show. I would say that the best part of it is its visual aesthetics---a gothic mix of love and death---witch makes some scenes and characters truly memorable. Overall, it's yet another good Scandinavian mystery, but a really remarkable one if compared to another Russian detective stories.

Generally good

8 episodes of normal detective story but with more mystic elements than it should be. I liked it but time to time had to pass some moments through all the series.
