May be based on a true story but it has been done before!
katarinaprice11 June 2019
This is a bad copy of the 1985 movie "Deceptions", an exciting adventure with Stefanie Powers and Barry Bostwick, along with Gina Lollobrigida and Brenda Vaccaro. Stephanie and Sabrina are twin sisters. Stephanie is a mousy housewife with no confidence and unhappy with her life. Sabrina is one of the beautiful people who lives in London and travels the world. The story begins when the sisters travel to Venice for their birthday and plan a switch! Forget this movie and watch Deceptions. Beautiful settings and wardrobe and a lot more action!

Difficult to rate a movie inspired by true events
phulla1 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A very unfortunate true event made into a movie, which is the only "good" part, the acting especially by Abdul was mediocre, bordering on terrible.

It feels as though this could have been covered by the news in 10 minutes yet somebody decided it was worth making into a 90 minute movie.

The story dragged and felt as though there was very little known about the sisters for this to be a movie hence the reason to drag this out.

Obnoxious Twins!
lavatch12 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When they were students at Jefferson High School, a pair of identical twins, Callie and Lizzie Abbott, would engage in shenanigans. They became adept at switching identities to fool others, such as young Ricky Davis, who was lured into attending the prom by the twin he mistook for the other.

Fast forward a dozen years to the time when Callie and Lizzie are now celebrating their thirtieth birthdays, and they are still up to their old adolescent tricks. Callie is married with two children and living in Fayetteville, Georgia. Lizzie is still single and is a city slicker in Atlanta. Once again, they decide to switch identities, and, on this occasion, it has untoward consequences.

The film started out in a light and breezy style. But the mood abruptly changed when Callie was murdered in Atlanta when the killer mistook her for Lizzie. Back on the farm, Lizzie decides that she must keep up the pretense that she is Callie. For the good of the two little children, Jed and Ruby, Lizzie pretends to be their mom. The plot thickens and becomes quasi incestuous when Lizzie starts sleeping with her brother-in-law Grady, who is duped just like Ricky Davis in high school.

The film became mired in a confusing subplot with the killers of Lizzie and her co-worker and lover, Jackson Kindaid. It was never made clear what was the motivation of the killers other than they were "skimming" money from Lizzie and Jackson and "wanted to be paid." Another big stretch was to believe that the female detective would virtually take up residence with Lizzie as the search was on for the villains.

The scenario seemed far-fetched in almost all respects. For that reason, it came as a shock in the closing credits to learn that the film was based on a true story. Apparently, life is often stranger than fiction.

Was I the only one cringing from how horrific the acting was? The twins, their aunt and Paula Abdul's acting is AWFUL! Movie is VERY slow moving.

GREAT story acting a little weak
Jawillis931 September 2018
This is an incredible story about two twins that switch place and the tragedy that occurred afterwards! However Paula Abduls acting is horrific and almost ruined the movie. As soon as she comes on the scene, the reality that this is a movie sets in. Before she came into the movie, you were immersed in the story as it unfolded. Once her part came up, the horrible acting detracted from the plot, it was so obvious she was "Acting" it was almost unwatchable. Part of her problem is that the only thing that moves on her face is her teeth, her lips barely even move, so its really hard for her to use facial expression, like most actors and actresses, to convy meaning. In any event its a FREE movie that is worth watching, with LOTS of twist and turns.

Was This Meant To Be A Comedy?
untoldsabotage7 May 2019
Awful acting, actress plays twins but has the same exact personality, quirks, and sound/vocal range. Made the whole murder aspect to be like a side story, instead of being as dark as it was. When she goes up to the detective after Grady finds out, really couldn't help but laugh. She's not even sad at this point, just sounds annoying.

Who is the music artist singing "Let's Dance" in scene at the bottom of the stairs?

Great soundtrack! Who is the artist singing "There's just something about you I can't quite describe. In your name, I hear a melody that makes me feel alive. Feel a beat when you're walking...?" "Where can I buy it? Stream it? Recognize and support the Arts!

Keeps you wanting to see what happens
phd_travel5 September 2018
It's always quite fascinating to see identical twins switching places but in this case one of them is killed during the secret switch. So it keeps you interested to see what happens and whether there will be a happy ending.

The actress speaks in a rather frivolous sounding voice which make thing seem a bit of a joke. Paula Abdul as a cop is really unbelievable.

OK for one watch but not a must see.

Why...just why?
vlschaub20 July 2019
Literally the worst acting I have ever seen! Who's bright idea was it to cast Paula Abdul as the detective?! I stuck with it until the end, which was painful, because it was supposedly based on a true story. I have searched and found nothing online that even hints to the actual case. I want my 1.25 hours back!!!

Acting is dreadful
richardsteph2 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The acting in this is so awful its almost laughable. Paula Abdul cannot act and nor can the one who played the twins. The only decent actor was the husband. Or the kids. The storyline seemd to me like I missed a big part or it was cut out, where they were meeting the baddie. The twins were annoying - kind of OVER-acting and a lot of it was hard to understand. Stupid movie.

Had potential and it's watchable, but it falls short.
CranberriAppl22 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I admit it. I jumped when ***** was killed. Didn't see that coming at all and it was horrifying. So the movie gets a couple of stars for my reaction.

The movie starts out ok. Two typical teenagers. The movie establishes how they are in the habit of switching places. Although I don't get how the aunt was the only one to see when all eyes were focused in their direction during the race. Anyway, they grow up at the movie is set around their 30th birthday. They both spend a lot of time complaining about whose life is worse. Between the two, Callie seems more bitter and jealous whereas Elizabeth wishes she had more than just her career (but she doesn't hate her life). Callie and her husband Grady seem to have problems that likely stem from Callie being restless and unhappy. Her husband and kids adore her. She just seems to regret the life SHE chose. They switch places for fun, but of course Callie doesn't want to stop just yet and ends up calling her sister a "b" as her last words to her. It was pretty amusing that even after years of dating and marriage, Grady can't tell the difference between his wife and her sister. How is that possible? I also found it weird that nobody in this movie between the married couple, the budding couple, and then Grady/Elizabeth shared a kiss. This is definitely the only Lifetime twin story where I've seen this happen. Lindsay Hartley did a twin movie in the same year as this one, and as both characters, she kissed the husband. I'm guessing this movie tried to make Lizzie seem more noble, but she did sleep with Grady, so....?

Like I said, Lifetime did extremely well with ******'s death, but then the movie fell off. That moment turned the movie dark really fast, but then the "drama" birthed the cringe acting and some silly plot points. The lead actress and Grady are ok, but the aunt and Paula are absolutely terrible. Couldn't take Paula seriously as a detective. The criminal conspiracy side of this story was a bit too comical to take seriously as well. The fight scene in the condo wasn't as dramatic as I'm sure they hoped. Lots of hammish acting in this movie.

Another problem was the movie implying that the "right" twin died. I think Lizzie's general outlook on life was better than her sister's but come on. Lizzie was not meant to step into her sister's shoes, no matter how much she wanted people to love. Which sounds "purer" than just her sister wanting to party, shop, and sleep around. It was creepy. Grady has a line about how different his wife is and he's obviously happy that they are finding their way back to each other, but how does he not know his wife's body? Why did she sleep w/her BIL? I feel the movie really didn't show Lizzie being THAT conflicted over what she was doing. Neither Grady nor the kids properly mourned Callie thanks to her. Not to mention, was Lizzie in love with Jackson or Grady? This movie took place over the course of like a week!

The caption at the end was I'm sure meant to legitimize Lifetime's "based on a true story" statement, but all I could think of was the undue trauma those kids would have when their "parents" decided they were old enough to be told the truth.

Interesting idea, boring movie!
NijazBaBs10 May 2019
I watched this only because its Lifetime stuff. Because I watched some other interesting stuff there that was good, but this is bad. It's like when someone tells you to find wife, and you imagine it will be good wife, and when you see her how she is ugly, you realize its better to not live or live alone, then with her. Story sounds interesting, but had some different actors done this it could be just as good as story maybe. They are talking too much, you know like that usual boring people from your life, that you are not even aware even exist! One more star is for positive (not "good") ending tough. I liked the bit of mystery tough, finding out the killer, bit of emotional relationships, and positive ending.

Horrible acting
pumping_iron-126 March 2022
I really wanted to watch this because it was inspired by true events, and it listed Paula Abdul in the cast. However, I could only get through 15 minutes of this because the acting is not just bad, it's horrible. I never got to see Ms Abdul.

Are we back in Junior High?
myhappyhome200828 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The acting is mediocre. Although the movie is based on a true story, I felt like I was taken back to Junior high school where twins were trying to to play a childish prank on others. The main character plays both twin roles and her acting leaves much to be desired. The writers did a pretty good job with split screen, but when the girls are having dinner with their Mom you can clearly see a fourth wnw glass in a couple of scenes that wasn't there before. Overall I felt like I was watching a home video made by amateur wtiters with horrid acting. I definitely would never waste another hour and 25 minutes of my life on this one.

Not bad for a Lifetime movie!
amyheadley27 April 2019
Best line was at 1:03 when Paula Abdul, playing a cop, said something like, "I'm in no place to judge." Fun reference to her American Idol position. 😉

A True Story well worth seeing
shydreamguywantsabboyfriend26 February 2019
Twin Movies are usually good. This 1 is better than expected. I see lots of films and i'm not generous with praise so if I give it 10 stars And bother to post a review , it was earned . You may cry and get angry but watch to the end . You will be glad you did . If I told you where I saw this movie nobody would believe me. Hint #1 It is where anyone on earth can see it , on a website where you wouldn't expect to find it . Hint #2 What do most people use the internet for ?

Best comedy movie I have ever scene. Watch it again from that aspect and it changes the whole movie. I think we will all change our minds.

Warning: Spoilers
I never laughed so hard. That will be a cult classic. This was real life and I first am glad the kids came out with as little scaring as possible. The script is perfect have great punchlines. I guess that could just be dark humor that she did a Hunter. Can't deny that. YEAH!!! The plot twist were perfectly timed to bust yyoour gut with ,"WTF!!!". With the budget that could be guess for the project, they did a great effects and back drop. Everyone could be heard when they delivered their lines. So big UPS to the boom mic guy. Teamwork makes the dream work. I was very entertained. Thank you to the crew and writers.
