• Doctor What : Skuld? I didn't expect to see you here. Is something wrong?

  Skuld : Yes Doctor... everything is wrong. I miss Ah My Goddess when it used to be happy. Ever since Kevin from the Other Dimension took over, it feels like our perfect lives have fallen apart.

  Doctor What : But Skuld... there's a reason for that. Ah My Goddess was about romantic sentimentality, and it existed in a world where things always seemed to work out for the better. Yes, there was emotional conflict and villains... but it always seemed to have a happy ending every time. Real life is not like that. Every light side has a dark. Every yin has a yang, and sometimes life isn't always meant to be happy. Sometimes life is about surviving the darkness through the power of love, and the power of sadness. The power of music, and the power of catharticism. And sometimes life isn't always about healing yourself. Sometimes life is about healing others by using yourself as an example. You were all shielded from this because you were all cartoon characters living in a different reality. So everything just always seemed to work out in the end. Bad Goddess is that alternate dimension, that balances things out. And if it's too dark sometimes, that other happy Flights of Fancy series also exists as a counterbalance. It's not like the original show has disappeared from existence.

  Skuld : But Ah My Goddess is not a perfect world. Why does everything now have to have a dark depressing ending? Can't there be stories that work out in the end? It seems like Kevin from the Other Dimension has allowed all of his life's problems to snowball into the episodes to the point that we've become a dysfunctional family drama.

  Kevin from the Other Dimension : Yes folks, it's true. It appears that in my attempts to poke fun at Kosuke Fujishima's relationship drama, now it's my relationship that's in trouble. And from an emotional standpoint, it's almost gotten the best of me. I suppose it serves me right. As Doctor What said during the Bad Goddess Anniversary Special, "Life happens and love isn't always pretty. So you better learn to laugh at yourself. For it is better to laugh with others, than to live in a state of depression." And it is better to learn from one's self than to emotionally pass your mistakes onto your children. What kind of man would I be to my daughter if I didn't practice what I preached to everyone else during this series. If Mr Rogers can do an episode on Divorce, then why can't I? So please take this episode with a grain of salt. I'm going to be using Keiichi and Belldandy as a substitute for myself and my wife.

• Ch 2 : SINS OF THE FATHER

  Skuld : Keiichi is right. Why would Kevin's daughter want to engage in marriage after reaching adulthood when she was subjected to her parents relationship downfalls and arguments her whole life?

  Doctor What : Well, that's just the thing Skuld. Kevin from the Other Dimension himself suffered those psychological issues when he first got married because he witnessed how his father reacted from his divorce.

  Skuld : Good goddess. How did Kevin's parents get divorced anyways?

  Doctor What : Well, you're not going to believe this, but it's actually attributed to a screening of David Fincher's Fight Club.

  Skuld : Excuse me? Why would anybody get divorced over David Fincher's Fight Club? That movie is a classic.

  Doctor What : Well, Kevin showed the movie to his father one night, and something about the movie scared him. Kevin's father worked in an office for the government, so something about the way Edward Norton expressed himself during his inner thought monologues spoke out to him and drew him into the movie. To see Edward Norton then fall into such disturbing behavior... well...

  Skuld : Well, what?

  Doctor What : Kevin's father is also a chemist. He knows how to do the same things that Tyler Durden does. And once again, the thought that Edward Norton, a character he related to, could be doing all of these things without having any knowledge of it due to schizophrenia, that scared the living hell out of Kevin's father to his core. He went on a rampage, and his mother, having been woken up from her sleep, considered it to be the emotionally abusive last straw. It wasn't his first offense either.

  Skuld : But Kevin didn't do anything like that, did he?

  Doctor What : Well, let's take a step back and examine this through Keiichi and Belldandy. Here is a text case example of what an argument was like between Kevin and his wife.

• Belldandy : Keiichi, can you bring in some bottled water from outside?

  Keiichi Morisato : Yeah, yeah sure. Just a few minutes, I'm almost done writing.

  Belldandy : I said, "Right now". I don't want you forgetting this.

  Keiichi Morisato : Look, I told you, I'm in a moment here. It's not going to kill you to wait just a minute or two.

  Belldandy : Fine! I guess you don't love me then!

  Keiichi Morisato : Whoa, whoa, whoa, hey, I didn't say that. Calm down.

  Belldandy : No, I will not calm down! You mistreat me like this all the time!

  Keiichi Morisato : Look please, just stop. There's no reason to be fighting right now over something silly.

  Belldandy : And you're still not listening. All I asked you to do is bring in the water, but no, you have to scream at me.

  Keiichi Morisato : I'm not screaming. Please stop. You don't have to escalate this. All you have to do is stop.

  Belldandy : No! What are you going to do? Hit me? You'd like to, wouldn't you? I'll call the cops!

  Keiichi Morisato : Look! I am not going to hit you! I am not abusive! Please stop arguing with me. I don't want to fight with you.

  Belldandy : Yes you are! You're emotionally abusive! You always treat me this way. You treat me like shit.

  Skuld : But Keiichi wasn't doing anything. It was clearly Belldandy that escalated that argument.

  Doctor What : Not in her own mind. To her, all she asked was a simple request, and she was completely innocent. In her own mind, Keiichi was fighting with her for no reason.

  Skuld : But all Keiichi tried to do in that argument was try to calm her down and ask her to stop.

  Doctor What : Doesn't matter. The woman is always right. Even when she's wrong, she's always right.

  Skuld : No she's not. That's a stereotype. I've seen lots of women who were wrong.

  Doctor What : Not in a relationship argument. Try telling that to the woman. The truth is that Kevin's marriage was packed to the brim with escalating issues like that. Kevin has developed anger issues just like his father. And that's not the only thing he's inherited.

• Belldandy : Keiichi. You woke me up. I was in a deep sleep. I have to go to work in the morning.

  Keiichi Morisato : It's not my fault you locked me out of the bedroom. It's my bed too, you know. I can't sleep on the couch every night. It's uncomfortable.

  Belldandy : Yes, but you and urd repeatedly wake me up. It's just in and out of the room. In and out.

  Keiichi Morisato : But we only have on bathroom in this house, and you have to go through the room to get to it.

  Belldandy : Well, you all had all day to use the bathroom. I need sleep for work. It's not like you have a job to go to everyday.

  Keiichi Morisato : Hey, I work every day.

  Belldandy : It's not a real day job. I have to get up and work a cash register everyday, while you stay home and watch movies and edit video mixtapes and cartoons for nothing. I'm the breadwinner in this family, what have you contributed other than giving people rides and doing your whatever hobby nonsense.

  Keiichi Morisato : Look, I can't get a job anywhere else. My only way out of this mess is to build an imdb resume making films.

  Belldandy : Get a real job. And go sleep on the couch. I can't handle your snoring at night.

  Keiichi Morisato : But the couch is uncomfortable.

  Belldandy : Your snoring is terrible. I've recorded you using an iphone several times just so you can hear what you sound like.

  Keiichi Morisato : Oh, no... my father used to snore like that... it almost drove me to a suicide attempt when we were staying in a hotel in the caribbean and I wanted to jump off the balcony.

  Belldandy : It doesn't matter. I need sleep for work. I do real work, you don't.

  Keiichi Morisato : Don't tell me my work isn't real. Just because I can't find work in the retail industry anymore...

  Belldandy : Fine... but don't touch me. Sleep by the wall.

  Keiichi Morisato : You mean I can't cuddle with you anymore?

  Belldandy : I don't want to cuddle. Your body heat makes me uncomfortable.

  Keiichi Morisato : Oh god, I can't win. Please stop arguing with me.

  Belldandy : No! You treat me like dirt!

  Keiichi Morisato : Please don't escalate this. All you have to do is stop and go to sleep.

  Belldandy : Go sleep on the couch! You can have the bedroom in the morning!

  Keiichi Morisato : But- but- that's not fair. All I wanted to do was get into the bedroom and go to sleep. It's not my fault you locked the door. I have a right to sleep, too, you know. This isn't love. This is a marriage of convenience. You just have me here so your family can have a place to live.

  Skuld : Okay... she clearly started that argument by locking the door.

  Doctor What : Doesn't matter. She's the one that stands for eight hours straight in a front of a cash register. She's the breadwinner. Keiichi doesn't have to be anywhere. He can work his own hours at home. Her right to sleep is more important than his, and he can't control his snoring that he's inherited from his father.

  Skuld : But... Kevin's relationship really does sound like it was on the brink. He can't stop the arguments. His wife doesn't think his filmmaking job is a real job because he doesn't make money from it. It sounds like they were just truly incompatible.

  Kevin from the Other Dimension : But that doesn't mean I still didn't love her. I just can't bear to let her go. And it's too late now. I'm trapped. There's nothing left for me to do but be an adult and help raise our child. So everyday, I have to see the woman I love, and she doesn't want to speak to me. I have to talk to the woman I love, but she doesn't want to engage in normal conversations with me anymore other than life business. It's like I've watched her lose her soul. And her happiness. What I would give just to see her happy again. I can never have her again.

• Ch 3 : LOVE ISN'T ALWAYS ON TIME

  Skuld : But if Kevin's marriage turned out to have the same problems that his father had, then how could that ever bring hope to his daughter and her future relationships? That makes everything seem hopeless.

  Doctor What : No, Skuld. If anything, Kevin learned from his father that no matter how hopeless it seemed when his relationship failed, the knowledge of how and why it failed helped his father become a better person in his second marriage. And time always heals everything. Once the dust was settled, and time had passed, and everyone fell into their later relationships, Kevin's parents were still friends. The family didn't get split up into smaller pieces. It only became bigger. Because that's called being an Adult.

  Skuld : What did his wife tell him to do with his life after the breakup?

  Belldandy : She told him to continue the video work that he's been doing. Because that is truly what makes him happy. And while nobody really pays attention to it now, making movies is not always about having a major payoff. It's about the LOVE of going through the process. She doesn't begrudge him for making movies. She just doesn't share any interests with him. She doesn't like the movies that he watches. Her only real connection to him was through their daughter. She simply noticed it three years earlier than he did.

  Keiichi Morisato : In all honesty, he IS kind of glad that it came to a resolution. His main worry is that so much time has passed, that he simply doesn't have the skills to find another person to be with anymore. And once again, engaging in a relationship of any kind when he's still legally married is only going to bring him trouble and have him called out as a hypocrite. So instead of whining and crying about it, he's simply going to throw himself into his work.

  Kevin from the Other Dimension : And it's entirely true. My time is running out. All I can do is make documentaries and cartoons, and hope it works out for the best. Even if I don't have a very large audience, at least there's a handful of people that like the movies that I do. Sometimes the process is more important than the final film.

  Doctor What : And the same is true of relationships. The process of being in a relationship is more important than how it ends. Some people are just not meant to be together for more than ten to fifteen years because people change over time. You do not have to stay with someone if they are not the same person that you fell in love with. There are still other people out there that can enrich your lives that share the interest of the person that you've grown into.

  Kevin from the Other Dimension : So don't be afraid to love... for it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. For my father. For my first wife. For my daughter. And for you.
