Beautiful landscapes in the Cinque Terre: the monastery of Monterosso saved by father Renato (a beautiful panorama) or the vineyards of Manarola (in the 12th century the inhabitants begin to make terraces):all the works are made by hand (except the transport of the grapes with a little electric train).
Beautiful landscapes also in Emilia-Romagna: the old palace of the Pallavicino family, the River Po, the Ghirlandina Tower in Modena, Bologna with its towers, the Borgo of San Giuliano (Federico Fellini was born in Rimini) and of course Ravenna with its mosaics.
We follow the making of the "Parmigiano reggiano" from the farm where the cows produce milk (Marco Rinaldi has 100 cows and sends every day 1.500 liters of milk to the cheese factory:) : the cheese maker Lorenzo explains the making of the cheese and later the expert Renato Giudici of the Consortium "Parmigiano reggiano" checks the quality of the cheeses: finally Lorenzo and his friends taste the cheese on the place of the village.
I enjoyed also the saga of the Panini Family : the great idea of the album and the stickers of football players: the business grew fast and in 126 countries these Panini stickers are availabe.the brothers Panini sold their business in 1989 and one of them Umberto has a cows farm and produce Parmigiano reggiano.
Bologna is also an interesting place: the first univeristy in Europe (11th century), a famous anatomic theater, students from all parts are coming to Bologna to study (Erasmus program); the Chinese Chen Zhang who came to study art was surprised to see so many old buildings in this town.
We disover also Rimini and its private beaches: Stefano manages a beach with its deckchairs and beach umbrellas, but he enjoys also the festival of the Sardines or the techno nights of Rimini.
In Florence there is a important game: the calcio storico, a mixture of rugby and boxing but with two rules : you can't hit something in his back or when he is on the ground. This game disappeared fr about 200 years and then in the 20 th century was played again.
I enjoyed the nice enconters of Sophie with Beppé, with Massimo Spigaroli, with the card players at the Po river, with Daniele Bonfantti and Gilberto Barbier (the balsamic vinegar factory), with Franco Bacchelli, with Mattoeo Giovanardi (the tower owner), with Christina Fortini and her family, with Diego Donzelli and his family, with Arianna Gallo and her hsband, with Fabrizzio Valleri, Laura (his wife) and Alessandro (a former calcio storico player): very nice encounter with very kind Italian men and women.
