A group of assassins manages to infiltrate the courthouse where the trial of war criminal Simon Nyamoya is to take place. In the process, prosecutor Eve dies, and the proceedings come to an untimely end. Kate regrets the recent difficult relationship with her mother, and that she could not reconcile with her in time. Now she wants to find out what drove her mother to accuse Nyamoya. So she seizes the opportunity when lawyer Michael, longtime friend and colleague of Eve's, asks her to work with him. The case is to prove the innocence of Alice Munezero, a member of the Rwandan parliament who commanded the military during the civil war. She is to be extradited to France and charged with the murder of a French civilian. Kate follows up and makes intense investigations. In the process, disturbing information comes to light about who else is involved in this case.
