It Was OK
Hitchcoc23 July 2019
This episode brings transgender into the mix. So it needs to be dealt with on the campaign trail. The point seems to be that except for the President, politics is dirty and getting dirtier. Also, the traditional parties are stonewalling a chance at a convention for an independent. Once again a speech that completely turns around decades of prejudice and dirty tricks. Still, it was OK and had a positive ending.

Fascinating new way of storytelling
nancyldraper12 June 2019
I have been a fan of DESIGNATED SURVIVOR since its beginning probably because of a fatigue with politics as usual and an interest in seeing human need before indentured agendas. In this 3rd season the show has moved from broadcast network to a streaming platform (Netflix) releasing it from the stricture of the public rating system. But, the change I've appreciated most is that it seems to be determining content and story from real interviews with people about issues that affect them the most. Each episode includes portions of these interviews, as stated at the end of an episode "The interviews featured in these episodes are of real people from footage provided from documentary filmmakers. Their comments are unscripted and represent their own thought. Clips are edited for content and time." I find this a fascinating way of taking this series closer to their audience.

Two out of three ain't bad

The first two seasons were fine, pretty good premise, but this third season is sadly crap, it does not need foul language that is not pertinent to the story, it's just there for the sake of it. several of the new cast members are also miscast, therefor not believable in their roles. I can't see this getting a fourth season, not without major changes across the board. Pity as I like Keifer, his dad is good too, just a thought.

A new approach to storytelling
dsshaw4725 June 2019
Having rewatched Seasons 1 and 2, and now watching Season 3 for the first time, I realize that this show is opening up. I don't disagree with the comments on vulgarities or political correctness; I don't have problems with this, though I understand that others do. But their comments miss something else that's going on. Most of the principal characters begin to take on complex story arcs in this episode; the characters for the first time in the series, arguably, start becoming complex. This is a critical step in this show, a nice step beyond mere plot into real character development. As such, this might be the most important episode in this series. I'll need to finish viewing season 3 to see if my intuition is correct, but I finally feel like my investment in watching this series is finally paying off. I'm hoping I'm not wrong on this.

Designated Survivor Took a Dump

I have to second some of the other reviews for season 3. Season 1 and 2 were pretty good. Designated Survivor was beginning to hit it's stride. Season 3 is horrible. Netflix absolutely trashed this show. Mostly it's now an excuse to preach to the deplorables that we are just not enlightened enough. Not sufficiently 'woke' as they say. Season 1/2 was borderline watchable for a family with teenagers in the house. Now there are f-bombs where it just doesn't make sense, with story-lines to match. And the sex scenes were cringe inducing. Good grief!

On the fence ...

Warning: Spoilers
Season 3 has become overtly controversial. It's testing ones (MY) comfort level -- in such a way, that's being force fed.

What I've known to acknowledge with a grain of salt is now being forced on to be today's acceptance that basically represents 4.5 percent of U.S. adults identify as LGBT.

I'm fine with the awareness message; however, this show has become very vulgar and I'm on episode 3 ... where are those heart strum principles that made me feel whole?

To be fair there are slivers of heartfelt moments, but IMO not nearly as much as in the past.

Also, my favorite actor Lyor Boone (Paulo Costonoza) the guy who gets paid to make everyone look good, the hypochondriac, was fired by the new Chief of Staff.

At this juncture, I'm a bit remised and pray there's an overall meaning in principle for which I watch this show to exemplify the goodness of the American People ...

Gone Downhill

Loved this show on ABC. Netflix not so much. What was once a really good TV show has now turned into a foul language, perverted and disgusting show. Sorry Kiefer but you have gone to a point where I am no longer interested in Hollywood trying to brainwash me with their views of how society is supposed to be.

Warning: Spoilers
Designated Survivor seems emboldened to tackle new issues now that they are on Netflix. I am sure that will be loved by some and hated by others, but I just care about good stories.

Not a lot of interesting content tonight and thus my low score.
