Tough To Watch
lexyladyjax16 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was very hard to watch. It was very much about the difficult decisions all parents have to make and how they're sometimes wrong. The mother of the Fragile X boy clearly loves her son. Even the most devoted of parents needs a break sometimes.

Taking care of a special needs child is an unremitting task with relentless responsibilities. Nicole desperately needed a break, so much so that she perhaps deliberately injured herself? It was unclear but it seemed to be a possibility.

Kitty's parents were tasked with the responsibility of taking a decision on behalf of their daughter which would estrange them forever. They were willing to make the hard choices for the sake of preserving her life even though it mean they might lose her love and company. This is the hard part of parenting.

At least Shaun had one good foster carer when he was a child. Bill was kind and she was understanding of Shaun's differences. She was laconic but brutally honest. That works well with autistic people. Don't lie to us, we don't cope with lying.

Then there's Dr Glassman. His decisions were the worst ones of all. His is the greatest failure of parenthood and hindsight is always 20/20. Revisiting that is always painful. Maddie didn't make it to adulthood. Dr Glassman failed parenting.

So Nicole got her break, Shaun used what he learned from Bill to help a patient and Dr Glassman achieved a type of closure. Kitty may or may not be able to climb in future, time will tell. What we do know is that parenting isn't for sissies, it never stops and although there are no coffee breaks or vacations, sometimes you do need to take a day off. RIP, Sybil.

EXCELLENT...Poignant episode
Boehmei17 October 2018
Not sure what the "pathetic" reviewer above saw, but this episode points to the extremely difficult decisions we make as parents...when our children's care is in balance with their livelihood and how our fears compromise both. The network in no way is trying to sell a message about its acceptance of abandoning children. How ridiculous to even suggest that.

In my humble opinion!

Warning: Spoilers
The Mom in this episode made the best choice for her son, and herself, period. Her son was only going to get bigger, stronger, and harder to control when he had an outburst. She was not going to get any younger, or better equipped. Giving him up doesn't mean she doesn't Love him, it just means he needs care she can't provide. It's the same as putting an elderly parent in a nursing home. As for Dr. Glassman, and his hallucinations of his daughter, I was confused. Did anybody else assume that she got sick and died? I remember a conversation Glassman had last season that implied it, or at least that was my interpretation. Either way, excellent acting, very intense! I did think the Shaun and Lea thing was interesting, if anticlimactic. I want to know what happened in Hershey! Finally, am I the only one who wants Morgan to get punched in the throat? Excellent episode all around, in my opinion!!

Awesome, just one flaw.
Mohamed-Mamdouh-Sayed17 October 2018
I am giving this 10 for the awesome performance by Richard Schiff and the great drama. Although, only one thing that is weird. The timeline of the episode, I don't know or understand what is wrong with Shaun at the hospital and Shawn with lea at his apartment or the new apartment? Is he as fast as flash to get their and then back? Especially when he told Dr. Glassman that he kept the secret for 30 minutes. They must have missed something or I don't understand it.

Great episode but

Yeah, the mother with the special boy and the parents trying to preserve their child's lives were terrific stories. Also, dr. Glassman was neat as well. Great acting

The downside was at the begining with the feminist snark by the nurse about men being practical with whiny women. Now imagine if it were a man slipping some sexist remarks huh.. it'd be fun

In agreement with "Pathetic"

Yeah don't worry too much about the commentary from the moronic peanut gallery after you expressed an opinion. The writers spend a lot of time on this site and will respond ignorantly to all negative comments. Or it's some guilty parent that has put their own life before their childs. So don't sweat the follow ups. I had to look on here because I knew someone would say something about this episode so bravo to you. I have a special needs child and to me it's the greatest blessing I've ever received. I feel honored to be able to raise such a innocent and perfect human. It's not always easy but I would die for that child and I would NEVER give up!!!! I love this show so please don't get me wrong BUT, I too found this episode very hard to stomach. I get your anger, trust me, I do. I believe that the behaviors this actor portrayed did not warrant a parent giving him up. It left the viewers open to accepting that it's ok to put your child with mild to moderate behavioral issues in a home. She needed one day....please. Bull crap!!! You know what, you fight! I don't care how tired you are you keep fighting. Don't wuss out. Man up!!!! Take care of your kids NO MATTER WHAT!!!! My word, there are teenagers out there shooting up schools, beating up their parents, on drugs and the list goes on and the parents still love them and try to help them in every way possible because they see their child needs help. Love unconditionally, not selfishly. I don't believe proper research was done when writing this episode either. There's just some things writers shouldn't touch and this is one of them. It delivers the wrong message. Television and social media are the most influential outlets in the world and something like this could sway a parents decision and make a child spend their life without a family. Yuck. Anyway, I think your allotted your opinion so blow the rebuttals off. Just my opinion. God bless you for sharing. Rebuttler suck it!!! I suspect you'll respond but you'll waste your time. I won't be back to read it. Ta ta

ABC you owe the families and the children with special needs all over the world an apology. Nice come back though but spare me. ABCshould release a statement. I dare you to admit your fault. It was wrong and you know it.

S2.E4 - I Got You A Donut! [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S2. E4) My Live Reaction / Review for The Good Doctor Season 2 Episode 4 ''Tough Titmouse''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Dr. Glassman has hallucinations where he sees his daughter, that's sad. Shaun and Lea need to talk and undo the damage to their relationship. Shaun does his best to fix his relationship with Lea but it seems like Lea isnt satisfied. Dr. Glassman's health is getting worse and its sad to watch. Shaun's karaoke skills are awesome hahaha. Does this mean that Shaun and Lea will be together again? Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

Late to the party but the party sucked
Lorrmen8 April 2023
Like actually, what the hell. I hope whoever wrote this episode is never allowed medical control over another person. The rock-climber timeline is the most sadistic piece of television I have ever been unfortunate to witness. Whatever mind thought this up should go do horror instead. "We need another b-storyline, something with drama and some moral conundrum for our doctors... Ah right let us disable a young character for life so they might have children because that is what their parents want!".

I am honestly shocked both by how the episode choose to portray this, and seemingly wants us to be sympathetic to the parents. There is a slight moment where one of the doctors seem to realise what they have done, but no matter, because it doesn't matter. We have disabled a young person and there is no further consequence. There is nothing redeemable about this plotline. This might be a larger indication about the very nature of "Are autistic people people, and the they deserve basic respect"- the show, but it was more obvious with this one.

2/10- The doctors never learn and never face consequences for their actions.

Bad philosophy about people with disabilities
gon_azevedo18 October 2018
So, so bad...my rating is all about the way it is approached the topic of people with disabilities (intelletual disability). Thnking in institutionalization like only solution for those people is a retrograde ideia, is old and inadequate.Nowadays the aim is empower people with disabilities and give them tools for a social integration.

I've liked this show so far, but this episode is uninteresting, boring and not seems it will never end.

Get back to the medical issues.
