UKTV’s Alibi Moves Into Original Drama With Crime Thriller ‘Traces’ From ‘Happy Valley’ Producer Red
UK broadcaster Alibi, which is operated by Discovery and BBC-backed UKTV, is moving into original commissioning for the first time with a Happy Valley-meets-Silent Witness-esque crime drama. Traces is produced by Happy Valley and Safe producer Red Production Company.
The drama is a six-part series written by Scott & Bailey and This Life writer Amelia Bullmore based on an original idea from crime writer Val McDermid, whose Hill/Jordan books were turned into hit crime drama Wire in the Blood.
It is the first original scripted drama for Alibi, which airs series such as Quantico and repeats of Luther. Red’s Nicola Shindler is exec producing.

Germany’s Beta Film has been working since October’s Mipcom on finding broadcasters for Russian psychological murder-mystery series “Trigger” to the world, and announced yesterday a trio of new territories which have picked up the show.
The series is produced by Sreda, one of Russia’s most important TV production companies, and was commissioned by Channel One Russia.
Confirmed sales were announced with Brazil’s Globo and Hot in Israel, Japanese VoD-rights were scooped by U-Next, and a German broadcast partner is in the final stages of negotiation.
According to Beta, the deals put “Trigger” at the top of the hill of best-selling Russian series in international to date. Beta has also secured rights to another Sreda series, “Alibi.”

So can Bradley Cooper really sing? Or is his vocal performance with Lady Gaga in “A Star Is Born” the result of a lot of movie magic?
Well, you can see for yourself in this exclusive clip obtained by TheWrap. It’s well known that Cooper and Gaga recorded their vocals live from on-stage performances in front of real crowds, but Cooper explains in this clip that, in terms of what was actually captured, everything you’re hearing is Cooper and Gaga’s isolated vocals mixed together with the dozens of layers of other sounds.
“Because we jumped on real stages with live audiences, we recorded all the vocals live, but we’re literally singing a cappella in terms of what Steve Morrow is recording,” Cooper says in the video clip.
