- Bosch studies the Skyler case file, triggering memories about the crime scene that don't match up with the new confession from Olmer. Old police reports show Borders was detained and searched prior to his arrest for the murder of Danielle Skyler. Bosch meets with the arresting officer, Anthony Servidone, who tells him that then Lieutenant Irving showed up to cut Borders loose that night. Why? Bosch remembers finding Skyler's seahorse pendant, the key piece of evidence that cemented Borders' guilty verdict. Per police procedure, Irving had entered Borders' apartment, first, to supervise "before-search" photography. Meanwhile, in search of a connection to the phony confession, Bonner makes contact with court stenographer Rita Tedesco, who just so happens to be married to none other than Preston Borders. Bosch searches for leads in the pill mill operation by seeking treatment at the VA. There, under the alias Dominic Reilly, he meets Dr. Hansen. Hansen refuses to prescribe oxy and invites Bosch instead to group therapy, where he meets two other addicted vets, Elizabeth Clayton and Louis Degner. Later, Bosch, with Edgar shadowing him, pays Degner a visit and discovers Clayton has just OD'd. Bosch hides Degner's pills from cops and EMTs responding to the 911 call. As payback, Degner agrees to take Bosch to the Garcia Pain Clinic. Robertson tracks down a car thief whose fingerprints were on the vehicle carjacked by the pharmacy killers. After some prodding, the thief admits he saw two men walking away from the car. Pierce and Vega get a lead on Jose Jr., and go talk to his cousin Oscar. J. Edgar meets with Marcos and Arias, who say they have no leads on who killed Gary Wise. Edgar says he'll talk to Gary's father, a retired cop. Crate and Barrel vent hard feelings over their recent reassignment to CAPs.
