The Craven Culture of Hollywood
lavatch9 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"Killer Reputation" takes a hard look at the mendacity of the culture of Hollywood, and the result is not a pretty picture for the hard-working PR representative Adrienne Kleiner. Adrienne is one of the few "good ones," who strives to earn a living by representing her clients with integrity.

Adrienne is challenged when an old boy friend who became a star actor needs her help in PR when he is accused of murdering his ex-wife. Gareth Nicks has always remembered Adrienne as "the one that got away." But Gareth's popularity plummets due especially to the tabloid reporting of media icon Nikki Leon. Nikki's broadcast will figure prominently in determining in the public's eye the innocence or guilt of Gareth.

While Adrienne is struggling to prop up Gareth's reputation, she is nearly killed when an assassin tries to rig Gareth's car with a C02 exhaust job while in the garage. Adrienne now moves Gareth into her own home. But are the troubled sister Em and Em's daughter Mini placed in danger due to the choices of Auntie Adrienne?

Another character in the mix is Gareth's old stunt man buddy Ian, whose ex-girlfriend was killed during a stunt gone wrong. Gareth heroically pulled Ian out of the rubble, but Diana perished. Now, Ian would appear to be infatuated with Adrienne while fingering Gareth for strange behavior.

The seamy world of Hollywood comes across nicely in the film where discretion never seems to know the better part of valor due to the tabloids. Adrienne can only hope to find light at the end of the tunnel through her own resources and by remaining true to her values of truth and decency.
