Double edged, PrettyWoman-esque rom-com with a surprisingly honest ending

I was never a fan of Enrico Brignano. I find his overall contribution to contemporary Italian comedy somewhat tone deaf.

However, the role of Gianni in this movie fits him like a glove. He plays the taxi driver who makes use of a key forgotten in his cab by a rich couple that will be on vacation for a week.

Now, that's a solid premise for a made-for-TV comedy. And it works well enough. Especially as Ilaria Spada (Lola) enters with all her sex appeal. The relationship between the "fake rich guy" and the "mignotta" delivers some moments of fun.

Given that Gianni is married with kids, and his lame, parallel life continues on in a poor apartment, it remains quite a problem how the story is going to be wrapped up.

Normally, for films of this caliber and this messaging, some sort of magical, forever resolution is fabricated. In the case of this one, though, a more honest path is taken.

And that particularly down-to-earth, if not realistic, way it ends is why I am giving "Tutta un'altra vita" a 6 and not a 5.
