Back with a belter.

A troubled young man visits Cormoran, believing he witnessed a murder at a young age, Cormoran is also visited by a Minister.

Why on Earth did Robin go through with that wedding? He really is a moron, and getting more and more unpleasant.

This was very good, it's another deep mystery, so much going on, I'm glad I didn't have a few glasses of wine.

They made the most of the filming locations, it looks sublime.

Robert Glenister is outstanding here, it's one of the best things I've seen him do, he had real charisma. The acting in general is superb.

A few Parliamentary jokes about too many Labour MPs....

I'm so glad it's back, 9/10.

This episode was a bit confused

Warning: Spoilers
The time traveling (at the wedding, then later, then back at the wedding, then the honeymoon, then back at the wedding) was a bit confused and at times hard to follow.

I don't know if the show was originally intended for US audiences, but the accents are bit hard to understand at times (this episode more so than others). Unfortunately, the streaming service I use doesn't always have closed captions (and didn't for this episode).

I, too, like other reviewers am surprised that Robin went through with the wedding.

Her new anxiety/panic attack thing is (to me) out of the blue and not at all in character with what we have seen of her so far.

It is not 100% clear what is going on in this episode, but like earlier seasons, hopefully it will become so later.

The return of 2 old friends!

Warning: Spoilers
This is a show where the casting feels perfect. Having read the books, Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger just slot into the roles of Strike and Robin with ease. Burke has a challenging character to okay as Strike could probably come across wooden, but there's a lot of depth to the character and he plays him well - I love the simplicity, humour and interplay with Robin of the scene in Ep3 when Lorelai dumps him.

Lethal White was a great read and this is a great transfer to the small screen. It's works well, not too pedestrian and it's a shame we only 4 episodes a year! Looking forward to the next one.

Warning: Spoilers
I watched prior Strike episodes and this one was the most confusing. Maybe it is me, but understanding their accents and Strike mumbling manner it is hard to keep plotline straight. i was glad Robin dumped her husband he was such a jerk

what have they done?
quabalah6926 December 2022
Previous episodes were much better than tihis one, I hope it improves. The previous episodes worked well with a tried and tested formula, but this is just messy and corny and unnecessary time jumps and side stories.

Just keep it simple! Crime investigating, whodunit, murder mystery without boring interruptions. Not even sure if this is a 2 or 4 parter, but again the 2 part stories worked well.

I can't beleive you need to write a minimum of 600 words just to write a concise review, but hopefully I can drag it out enough to enable this quick review to submitted. Maybe Strike writers had to do the same.

Gimmicky
Warin_West-El21 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with the reviewers who said previous episodes were superior to this one. The original series was straight forward crime investigation. But now the writers are trotting out a lot of gimmicks and corrupting the integrity of the series.

Robin is SUDDENLY having panic attacks? They're completely out of character. Why did she panic with the minister? How come we haven't seen her panic with her husband? Or anyone at a party? It's just a writer's disingenuous gimmick. Robin was an interesting character as she was. That character didn't need any "improvement."

How come the filmmakers have Robin and Strike digging AT NIGHT like grave robbers? Why didn't they wait until morning when they could see? That was ANOTHER gimmick and against character. Strike is a practical guy. He would NOT have wandered about at night as was shown. That was the writers attempting to create (unnecessary) suspense.

Then there was the confusing time-travelling back and forth SEVERAL times. Which, judging by the reviews only served to confuse people.

TOO MANY GIMMICKS!
