Amazing episode, decent musical
checom30 March 2019
We can all agree that Episode 10 did not top last year's musical ensemble with "Under Pressure" and rightfully so, considering the song is very well known and it is Freddie Mercury & David Bowie we're talking about. The episode itself is what carried the musical. "All That Josh" was about the whole team while "All That Hard, Glossy Armor" was about one person only: Margo Hanson. Summer Bishil stole the show every scene she was in. She did Janet Pluchinsky extreme justice; the book character Margo was based on. Her journey in the desert was handled well and we got some insight into Margo's past and saw her vulnerability which is something we never see since she hides it so well. Her performance was so raw and powerful. I felt it.

The axes and The Foremost were carried over well. I like how they made adjustments this time around with Margo's goal being to rescue Eliot with them while in the books Janet was betrayed believing The Foremost and his tribe will side with Fillory. A lot of these were 80's songs which weren't exactly well known but on my second watch around I enjoyed fully. It's also understandable that Eliot got the spotlight with this year's musical considering Kady owned it last year. To the person who said Jade isn't a good singer, I highly disagree. She's the best performer out of the cast (as a singer and dancer) and can hit several vocal ranges most cannot. ;)

All hail the king Margo

I really like this episode . And yes some scenes are not good enough but nice 80's covers take my soul.

Margo is the true KING.

It was the return of the musical, The episode was very Margo centric which I loved and summer bisil was amazing in this episode, Margo's desert trip is such a fun and wild ride with plenty of twist and turns, the others tried to stop the monster elliot was also really awesome.

Warning: Spoilers
Summer Bishil's performance in this episode is absolutely stunning! Getting to see Margo and "Eliot" interact for the first time this season is both heartbreaking and so, so worth it. Though I didn't know the songs, I found them all highly enjoyable and WOW Jade Tailor and Hale Appleman, at it again with their amazing voices! We learn some about Margo's backstory as well, which is fascinating. Overall, I loved it!

This is how you do a musical episode

I normally hate musical episodes but I loved this one. I liked that they had each of the actors singing in their own voice, and it was entertaining to see them all together. And the soundtrack they chose added a significant amount of whimsy to the episode which made it pretty entertaining.

I really enjoyed this episode and the vivisection of Margo's character. Some can't handle musical interludes, but we theater geeks love it!

Beautiful Dreamer

As I write this, this episode is rated 8.6---and deservedly so. Adding music is just plain fun and it scratches the itch from the earlier Bowie bit.

I love, love, LOVE this episode!!!!!!!!!! I usually don't like musical episodes but I love the musical episodes on "The Magicians". This is my favorite musical episode. And not only is this my favorite musical episode, it is one of my favorite episode of the entire series. And not only is it my favorite musical episode of "The Magicians", it is my favorite musical episode of any shows that I watch. I love the songs, I love that they entire main cast sing together. I think it is the first time in the entire series that they have all been in a scene together. And I absolutely love Margo's storyline.

Pretty good
stormharbour29 March 2019
A pretty good episode. Margo has been developing nicely as a character.

The one thing, though. Love Jade Tailor as I do, she's really not as good of a singer as she seems to think. The other actors all seem to know their musical limitations, but she jumps in with both feet and... is not good.

"I'm a KING. Not a goddamn princess"

Probably the best episode of the season, Summer Bishil absolutely shines here and the development in Margo is fantastic. Yes, we've seen her be a Bad B, we've seen her be smart, she's ALWAYS beautiful, but this is probably the best that we've seen her combine all three of those traits and still be her true, vulnerable, self.

The musical numbers are really well utilised - almost as well as Season 3's "Under Pressure" - and I especially love that, with Storm Coming, we get EVERYONE singing at some point, though I'd have loved it more if we'd been able get more than a far or two each from Fogg, Fen, Josh, Julia, and Q.

This episode really is the perfect example of why Summer Bishil was so perfectly cast as Margo.

stop ruining a decent show
strategix42427 December 2019
Musicals are not only horrible but it makes me review this episode in the middle of watching it. It has come up several times already, a random dumb song to make me skip forward and just feel they needed to stretch out a season. In the books, I don't remember multiple pages of song lyrics.

The Pointless "Yass Queen" Episode
esmad3-216-47522427 April 2019
This was a silly departure from a show I usually enjoy a lot. A musical episode on top of the whole dessert thing was a bit much, to put it mildly. The complete lack of subtlety combined with doing very little for the overall story felt like a waste of everyone's time.

As a European I take no particularly joy in pointing out that this was a ham-fisted "wahmen good, Trump bad" story, but that was exactly what it was.

Not what I'm looking for in "The Magicians"
mizagorn16 January 2020
I can't deny the at least latent singing skills of practically the whole cast. Not bad at all.

However, I didn't sign up for a musical. There are other sources of media for that. I found myself hitting the "10 second forward" button more with this episode than any other previous one.

This is not the same "The Magicians" as in the first two or three seasons. I'm not a Christian, but even I am starting to get really tired of the gratuitous, smug, "see how clever I am as a writer, coming up with ways to make fun of a religion" disregard for beliefs.

Despite the above, the show has become trite, uninteresting, and boring to those who expect something special from this genre.

I have absolute respect for each of the actors and actresses. They are amazing! However, the writing had gone way downhill the last season or two.

Worst episode ever
bogus-bogus-one28 March 2019
At its best, The Magicians can be barely entertaining. At its worst, well... watch this episode. I didn't think an entire show could be so pointless. To top it off, it's been put to bad music.
