This is "Blood Sweat & Tears", the music video for the song of the same name by South Korean boygroup BTS. I assume there is a comma missing in the title? But it doesn't matter really, even if to some extent it shows how much make-believe there is with BTS. The boyband era in the western world has been over for 10 years, even if Backstreetboys and a few others are still making music. There are no bands from the US or UK (like Westlife, Boyzone) to pick up on this approach again, but South Korea does and here are their number one choice, a group of men around the age of 20, slightly over perhaps with heavy makeup performing an approach that is somewhere between emo, boys, men and metrosexuality. But yeah, I could very well do with not disliking their visual appearance if their music was good. It is not. The songs sound fake and artificial with tons of autotune and hardly any singing and I am sure none of these boys could deliver in a convincing manner when it comes to performing something acapella. Or maybe they could, but they are not allowed here to show us that they are actually good singers? I don't know. Maybe we will never find out. This song and music video are really all style over substance and when we don't hear the band singing in the first minute and also in almost the entire last minute of these relatively long 6 minutes, it feels almost right. Not that the visual side is any better. The finger sucking moment, the balcony jumping scene, the make-up tear at the end, it ia all incredibly pretentious to be honest. One of the most artificial video I have seen in a long time. Admittedly, you can say in their favor that the lyrics are so bad here (more more more in Korean that sounded like money or mami) that also no other more talented artist could probably have pulled this off. All in all, I have no idea why people are so hyped with this band and the 9.9 here on imdb says it all I guess. Lets get things back to realuty a bit. 1 star out of 5. Highly not recommended. Not the music you want to listen to. Not the music you want your teenage daughters to listen to. Luckily, this is just a phenomenon right now as things will inevitably go south for them due to lack of talent when they and their fans grow older. And probably wonder, maybe even feel embarrassed about what they saw in this B(T)S.
