These five minutes we have here are the music video for the new Eminem song "Venom" and this one managed already almost 200 million views on Youtube in under 2 months. I think this is a success, even if apparently the record sales weren't that huge outsidy of Hungary. Anyway, it's certainly not a coincidence that a song with this title is released around the same time as the new Tom Hardy movie. Cannot say anything about the latter as I haven't seen it yet, but I think the critics weren't too fond of it compared to the fans. Yeah well, we shall talk about that one on another occasions. Back to the song. The symbiote being handed from one to the next gets repetitive in under five minutes already, Eminem's (usual) lone wolf routine in his shots is not curring the cake either. And the lyrics feel really empty. Yes the almost humming of the chorus is slightly catchy, but this alone is far from enough and honestly I am talking about the music video here, not the song, so yeah there needs to be more. A lot more. I liked Eminem during his early days and thought he was pretty creative, also with his Oscar winning number for example. But now in his mid-40s, he is just as weak as 90% of the American music industry around him. "Venom" gets a big thumbs-down from me. Not recommended.
