I was cheated.
timmoss-2638725 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Violence, gore, strong language...all that you would expect from an adult horror film.

I enjoyed it,up to a point.

Ultimately I felt cheated.

As one would,I spent the whole of the film wondering who is behind the mask? Who is the killer?

I waited with anticipation as I saw the mask being removed...did I guess right?

I never found out as the film ended like a damp squib, with no reveal at all.

This made me feel that 90 minutes of my life had been taken from me and wasted.

So,a decent horror effort but ultimately,a huge disappointment.

Not a comedy or horror
staunton-gary26 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've read that people are liking this to a slasher movie, it isn't, there's no slashing shown. In fact, there's only one onscreen kill, by an explosion. Horror, nope, suspense is all it is, and that's not plentiful. Comedy, no, although Natasha Killip (Lauren) did provide a couple of funny lines. This is more like a whodunnit, but it's left up to you to work out who actually did it, so there's no big reveal, except two hand gestures. If you want to kill 92 minutes, I suppose this is ok. I'm not recommending this to anybody.

No suspense

What a terrible movie. No suspense, not anything. Even the "massacre" is lackluster. Stay away from this one.

Its like they just could not be bothered with trying to act as the writing and directing was such poor quality. The ending was similar, they just couldn't be bothered. I feel I could write, direct and act better.

Awful

If it was not so bad it was actually funny or I would never have finished watching it. Low budget, poor acting and a storyline which was not believable. The special effects were comical. It gets the worst movie award since Valley of the Sasquatch. It you are bored and need a laugh, watch this movie to realize life is not so bad.

I'll get you a ladder, or some..........STEPS.......
FlashCallahan24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Old school friends go on a paintball trip in an old quarry, miles away from anywhere.

Things go horribly wrong when they discover a killer is among them. Now they must fight to survive their school reunion......

Basically a reference to Prom night, Paintball Massacre is one of those films that have a bright and shiny DVD cover with lots of quotes from people who right for a obscure piece of media, and state just how good it is.

The cover also puts a famous person who is in it as the centre of attention, thus to make unknowing buyers, into thinking that they are on to a winner. For example the DVD cover for 'Killing Gunther' when it was released in the UK.

So what we get is a poorly acted non entity of a horror comedy, which is neither scary or funny. But it's a crying shame, as some of the characters traits are pretty interesting and at times, have quite genius conversations. For example, the running 2 Fast 2 Furious chat which is scattered about the film, the only interesting thing about it.

Once we are into the second act, we are treated to the gang trying to second guess who the killer is, and as to why. The explanation is fine enough, but the execution is very bizarre, and does not really make any sense.

We get Lee from STEPS in it, just to make a STEPS joke, and when he has uttered it, you can disregard him, because before he has us in stitches with his joke, the audience are just waiting for him to be self deprecating.

The rest of the characters are just fodder for the killer who moves his head the same way Michael Myers did to become more interesting. In fact he looks like he is constantly listening to dance music, and it soon becomes annoying.

So all in all, there is a decent film here, waiting to get out, but instead we get a lazy film with hardly any redeeming features...

An okay film but could be better.
chalklaura14 October 2021
The film was overall okay! My only constructive criticism is that the kills were actually seen like you saw ___ being impaled as oppose to seconds after and the killer actually had a face reveal.

Film buffs will likely hate it given the very low budget gore wise especially when ___ was searching inside ___'s stomach however all aside this was an independently made film and hats off to all the cast and crew who put it together you have potential to create great content.

P. S Lee Latchford Evans is literally the cutest and did well for his first acting roll.

Hit n Miss (geddit?)
peter-stead-740-48696312 February 2022
It's a great title and premise, and this is what drew me to it and delivered most of the enjoyment. Plus it had a great tone and vibe which carries you through to the end.

It does have some flaws, though. The script only really starts the character development at the same time as when those characters try to work out in earnest who is actually attacking them - about halfway through the film - and therefore will be too late for some of the audience. So the first half just feels like a series of clunky, implausible, unnecessary jokes. Plus, there are some holes. When they find the initial massacre, they strangely underreact, even talk about going for a beer. In all, the first half chooses jokes over believability and suffers for it, but the second half comes into focus plot-wise very well.

I will say some of the acting is pretty wooden, some is okay, but also there are some really great performances, especially from Cheryl Burniston and Aoife Smyth.

This is one of those heroic efforts on a tiny budget, which I am here for. If you go in with that in mind, you'll have the best time.

Paintball slasher
BandSAboutMovies17 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A bunch of British kids decide to turn their class reunion into a day of fun on the paintball course. However, someone is packing more than paint-based ammunition and is ready to kill them all one-by-one in one of the few slashers I've seen that brings in the sport of, well, paintball.

The first full-length film by Darren Berry, who often works as a cinematographer, this film stars Katy Brand, Robert Portal, Cheryl Burniston, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lockhart Oglive and Natasha Killip. There's even a cameo by Nicholas Vince, who played the Chattering Cenobite in the first two Hellraiser movies.

There's an attempt at humor here, but it kind of fell flat to me. I did like the scene with a mine going off, as I didn't expect the film to have the budget to handle that. Otherwise, your enjoyment of this will depend upon your love of slashers - mine is high, obviously - and your enjoyment of getting plugged with paintballs.

An easy watch with plenty of humour
andybaldwin-0809517 December 2020
Not having any expectations from a low budget film. Was enjoyable and easy to watch. Some good castings and great one liners. If you're expecting massive, multi million pound effects, it won't be for you. If you're an easy watcher and ready for a laugh with a little gore, it ticks all the boxes.

Over I thought it was a much better than some Low budget American films I've recently watched! We decided to view this film after watching a major hollywood flick archenemy and out of the two I would Rather of watch this. The story line was great some of the effect where are you would expect but overall a good watch

ops-5253515 December 2020
To be in the playgrounds sandpit with your friends spraying eachother down with gaspressuredriven painball then this is meat for you. a class reunion weekend gets a fatal fallout as you might sense, and war there is.

its just that its all very flat and mediocre business. the acting, plotting editing, musical score, jokes and tactics and a woman playing the game hiding her rather blossomingly bossom in a bikini , makes a stupid impression to the grumpy old man, who have a wish to attend a game like that before entering the gates of heaven, and i shall do that far better than this.

its of course lots of irony and blackcomedy in this semihorrorslasher that counterweights some of the bad stuff, but most of all its looks like a friendly getogether to make a shootout film in the local forest, on a seemingly moderately filled ''setlabok''or wallet. it does have some fun bits but not more than filling four out of 10 stars. a must see for every paintballer, for the rest its nothing more than...

Dreadful indie
Leofwine_draca24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't be fooled like I was into thinking British comedy/horror PAINTBALL MASSACRE (2020) is going to be a throwback to solid low-budget fare of the 2000s like SEVERANCE, DOG HOUSE or WILDERNESS. This turns out to be a cheap and unconvincing indie drama in which most of the budget seems to have been spent on hiring comedienne Katy Brand and Lee from Steps as the "big name" draws (!). The story involves a high school reunion at a paintball game turning murderous; those expecting bloody mayhem will be disappointed with the pitiful CGI-enhanced gore effects, while the characters are horribly irritating throughout. One to avoid!

Great premise, but the creators, writers, and actors completely flopped on it
stephenguerracat11 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
.I came across this about a couple of months after it came out. I completely forgot about it, but I remembered it about three days ago, and decided to watch it, because it sounded great. However, I was extremely disappointed with what I saw.

Yeesh, where to start? The writing is awkward and frustrating. Every single character except for the main two are portrayed as overly annoying, immature, or self centered. This was clearly done to make the main two more likeable. And even then, the main two just... aren't. They aren't likeable. It's not that they're unlikeable, it's just hard to give a crap about them. They have no personalities.

The acting doesn't help either, especially with the three people who portray the game wardens. They are totally unbelievable. Besides this, all (yes, all) of the actors did a horrible job. I have seen acting better from people who have never acted before. The lines are delivered improperly, with either too much dead space between them, or too quickly after. None of them are actually concerned about dying, or the people around them dying. They move on moronically quickly. They're almost more sociopathic and deranged than the actual killer. You probably think I'm being overdramatic with that one.

I'm not.

There's a scene where one of them steps on a mine. One of the others (who is a complete maniac in and of herself) shoots his leg to get him to step off, and when he does, blood and guts spill all over the others, who only care about the mess.

Speaking of the killer, his entire character is a mess. I have no idea who he's supposed to be at the end of the film. The fiance? The childhood bullying victim? It's impossible to understand.

There is also an absurd amount of cussing and blood. I'd be willing to bet that the cussing makes up for about thirty to forty percent of the film, especially from the psychotic character I mentioned earlier.

All together a complete mess of a film. I think it's supposed to have some sort of comedic aspect, but it's hard to find. Don't watch this, it's not worth your time.

Terrible
marshawnmka22 November 2023
Worst movie on tubi by far. The bad acting, the casual reactions to seeing a bunch of people murdered, the constant fast and furious references, the boring "massacre". The group act as it they're terrified of the murderer but instead of trying to escape and trying to kill him if they come across him while trying to escape, they intentionally go after him, how does that make sense? Then they spend the entire movie debating if its a prank or not even though they clearly see people are dead and without eyeballs. I would give it 0 stars but i can't and 1 star for this movie is actually me being generous. I should be paid for watching this.

More than just paint
kosmasp16 April 2023
No pun intended - can you imagine a massacre just with Paintball? Actually that would be quite funny - but there is more here than just Paintball of course. And you can tell. Interstingly enough there are some actors in this you may know from other stuff, like Nicholas Vance of Hellraiser fame.

Not sure if that is enough for you, suspension of disbelief is also important. There is not much of a story. And the movie has quite a few flaws from a logical standpoint .. also you can tell this does not have a big budget. All things considered the effects are ok given that fact of course. So be aware what this is and act accordingly ... watch it or not.

Tragedy!
iamtherobotman15 November 2021
When you see a film is starring the guy from 'Steps' your expectation level drops somewhat, and it's a good thing it did as i wasn't left disappointed by the (non) quality of this film.

'Horror'? No. 'Comedy'? No. The acting was terrible. The only saving grace was Natasha Killip. That 'ballsy Northern lass' thing came off quite well in this.

The story was decent, though the whole school reunion thing has been played out to death over the years, and the ending was just... WHAT?

Warning: Spoilers
All I can say is I want my time back. No jitter moments. No suspense. No sense of urgency. When they made it back to the office and got the keys why the hell didn't they drive to the nearest phone? Instead they stupidly went back to confront the killer.

Life is just like Fast and Furious movies without all the racing and fast cars
nogodnomasters29 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Jessica Bentley (Cheryl Burniston ) goes to her class reunion uninvited waiting for her fiance Simon who is a no show. The spend the night and all play paintball the next morning. They are newbies playing against ringers. After a while folks start to die. A killer is on the loose. Who is the killer? Is it Simon or the kid they all bullied in school?

This is a slasher that I enjoyed because of the characters. If you create unique characters that are entertaining, the plot doesn't have to be great. And nice job on the quick cut ending.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Solid and enjoyable if flawed British slasher effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder17 December 2020
Gathering together at a remote cottage, a group of classmates decides to party off the previous nights' festivities with a round of paintball in the local woods, but as the game continues they come to believe the person killing them off one-by-one might be one of them and must try to get out of the situation alive.

There was a lot to like with this one. Among its better features is the generally enjoyable setup that allows this to operate as a rather fun slasher. The setup involving the group returning to the location in order to carry out their reunion and going through the usual series of scenes featured in these types of films gives this a lot to like in the first half. From the job catch-ups and the rekindling romances as well as professional jealousy gives this a nice beginning, and when mixed with the first few paintball games that are played which show the various discrepancies between the teams who are taking it as a joke compared to the other team who are more prepared and serious about it sets a fun starting point. The action here really starts with the realization that the killer is among them and hunting everyone in the group. The discovery of the massacred paintballers in their stronghold offers a fantastic reveal and generates a lot to like with the suddenness of everything getting turned from a fun game into the more deadly situation present, while the later scenes showing the group coming upon the various traps set for them that denote a killer is on the loose offers a nice sense of urgency even if the characters don't agree. The resulting attacks throughout the rest of the woods offer up the kind of fun series of encounters while generating a nice amount of action and gore with plenty of twists and turns to keep the killers' identity a secret, making for a lot to like overall here. This one does have a few issues with it. The main flaw is the overwhelming stupidity and negligence that emerges once the killer first starts striking the group and picking them off. The sheer incredulity to question what's going on and not make out that they're in danger is mind-boggling, as they resort to petty insults and questioning what's going on far longer than they really should in the face of such obvious death and dismemberment around them. It's a rather curious decision to feature that as the group had been fun until then, but it takes the characters into such a different dimension of likability that it's hard to sympathize with and see where they would question the reality of their situation. The other issue here is the surprisingly restrained attitude toward the blood and gore involved. While it makes sense in context why the kills toward the rival paintball team happened off-screen setting up what's going to occur to the other group, having them off-screen is the start of something rather detrimental where the rest of the film features a large number of occurrences happening in that manner. Despite being rather gory, it's all aftermath shots of characters stumbling upon the results which denote something horrific happened to the individual but the actual inciting incident and the confrontation with the killer are missed, resulting in characters stumbling upon their dead friends or seeing them captured and killed without any context. The finale will also be an issue, with these elements all holding it down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Low budget British Horror Comedy at its best
wkrumbd25 February 2021
Not a blockbuster budget, but what it lacks in budget has been made up by the bucket load of one liners and great acting by the cast.

Well worth a night in front of the box, get your popcorn ready.

Mostly great
hellholehorror22 April 2021
So, this is not a perfect film. But, it is very entertaining. It is a low budget independent film about a group of school friends that go paintballing and get killed off one-by-one by a masked killer. The cinematography is mostly excellent, the sound is mostly great, the acting is mostly believable and engaging, the direction is mostly perfect, the story is mostly well paced. Mostly. The issue is that occasionally you are taken out of the experience by an issue. A character acting out-of-character, a scene not working, an actor weaker, and so on. Shame but to be expected as the budget probably wouldn't have allowed them to go back and fix issues. If you don't like digital effects then you'll be mostly happy, they have tried unsuccessfully to add some blood here and there but hopefully you won't notice. I wasn't a big fan of the ending and the age gap between the school friends is comical but that just adds to all the other comic moments. Overall very much worth watching, it will hold you attention from the beginning to the end which will leave you guessing. Entertaining indie horror comedy that is never boring with great pacing, interesting characters and some rough edges.
