Following the cancellation of GMA3: Strahan, Sara and Keke, former View co-host Sara Haines is returning to her old stomping grounds.
Haines is formally rejoining the ABC daytime talk show as a full-time co-host for Season 24, our sister publication Variety reports, technically filling the seat left vacant by Abby Huntsman, who departed in January.

Sara Haines will be returning to “The View” in September as a co-host for Season 24 of the ABC daytime talk show, Variety has learned.
Haines, 42, is no stranger to the Hot Topics table. She served as a “View” co-host for two seasons — from the fall of 2016 through the summer of 2018 — where she offered her takes on the headlines of the day, pop culture and celebrities. Prior to “The View,” Haines had served as a lifestyle anchor for “GMA Weekend.”
A representative at ABC declined to comment.
Haines will fill the seat at the table left by Abby Huntsman, who exited the show in January 2020.
In the last few months, Haines has filled in occasionally on “The View,” which has had its co-hosts – Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Meghan McCain and Sunny Hostin – engaging in virtual debates from home due to the coronavirus.
Election years have always led to surges in viewership for “The View.

ABC has renamed Good Morning America’s third-hour show, “Strahan & Sara,” to “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke,” the show’s hosts announced on Monday.
This is the third name change for the show, which first premiered last September as “Gma Day” as a replacement to “The Chew,” which was cancelled last year over sexual misconduct allegations against one of its hosts, Mario Batali, and a number of other problems. In January, “Gma Day” — hosted by Michael Strahan and Sara Haines –was rebranded as “Strahan & Sara.” And now, with this third new name, the actress Keke Palmer joins the hourlong daytime show as a co-host alongside Strahan and Haines.
Palmer had been hosting the show with Strahan over the summer as Haines was out on maternity leave, and the new name officially incorporates her into the show’s branding.

ABC’s not-so-new hour of “Good Morning America” is getting another name – and a third host.
The network said the early-afternoon program called “Strahan & Sara” would now be titled “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke,” and feature a third host, Keke Palmer, in addition to the original team of Michael Strahan and Sara Haines. The program, initially conceived as a means of extending the network’s flagship “Good Morning America” into other time periods, and bringing affiliates and advertisers along for the ride, has been through several changes since its launch in September of last year.
Palmer, a singer and actress known for her time on Fox’s “Scream Queens,” has been filling in for Haines while she was on maternity leave. ““It’s been a blast having Keke co-host this summer. She brings a unique and spontaneous energy viewers love,” said Rory Albanese, the program’s executive producer, in a statement.

ABC News has rebranded its afternoon version of “Good Morning America,” previously known as “Gma Day,” to “Strahan & Sara.” Yes, already.
“Gma Day,” an extension of the ABC morning talk show, launched in September. Now named after its hosts, Michael Strahan and Sara Haines, “Strahan & Sara” airs at 1 p.m. on ABC.
The new title and set debuts today, a person with knowledge of the update told TheWrap.

The afternoon program was originally intended to act like a third hour of “Good Morning America” — just a bit removed from those hours (and the “morning” part in general). “Gma Day” took over for “The Chew,” which was canceled while facing a whole host of issues, including sexual misconduct accusations against one of its hosts, Mario Batali.

ABC hopes to shed new light on “Gma Day.”
The afternoon extension of the network’s “Good Morning America” is getting a new name and look, according to a person familiar with the matter. Audience members present at Monday morning’s taping of the program will notice a new set and logo that tamp down the emphasis on the show’s links to ABC’s morning flagship and place more significance on hosts Michael Strahan and Sara Haines.
The show has been re-titled “Strahan and Sara,” this person said. ABC News declined to make executives available for comment.
ABC News, which oversees “Gma,” launched the 1 p.m. program on the fly in September, betting that the duo could extend the network’s morning juggernaut to the afternoon, creating new opportunities for advertisers and affiliates in the process. “Good Morning America” fetched more than $350 million in ad revenue in 2017, according to Kantar Media,...

Congratulations are in order for Sara Haines. The Gma Day host is pregnant with her third child. She and her husband, Max Shifrin, plan to welcome the little bundle of joy in July. The baby will join children Sandra Grace Shifrin, 1, and Alec Richard Shifrin, 2. "We just figured out our one-on-one defense and now we have to move to a zone," Haines told People, who broke the news. "Max and I are super excited while also being terrified! We are so grateful." The sex of the child has yet to be revealed. The baby news is just one of the many milestones Haines has experienced over the past few months. In August, the TV host bid adieu to The View to host Gma Day with...

Megyn Kelly may have flamed out spectacularly in NBC’s 9 a.m. time period, but that has not torched the daytime TV landscape for high-profile talent. New entries featuring Mel Robbins, Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall and RuPaul are all in the works. Even former Trump White House aide Sean Spicer is in the very early stages of developing a daytime talker with syndicator Debmar-Mercury. Top talent is still able to command top dollar in what was, decades ago, referred to as the “housewife” daypart: Clarkson’s deal to host an upcoming talk show from NBC-Universal Domestic TV Distribution will earn her more than $7 million in the first year.
But the road to daytime traveled by the current wave of incoming talent is littered with bodies. Clarkson is effectively taking the slot vacated by Steve Harvey, whose show withered after he left Chicago and producer Endemol Shine for Los Angeles and...
