-
Odafin Tutuola : Rollins is fine. Turns out the baby's not coming any time soon.
Olivia Benson : She's not in labor.
Odafin Tutuola : Not yet. They're keeping her at the hospital for observation. Carisi's there and Dr. Al.
Olivia Benson : What could possibly go wrong?
Odafin Tutuola : Dr. Al proposed.
Olivia Benson : What?
Odafin Tutuola : She said she'll think about it.
Olivia Benson : Wow. Wow, um... Okay. So, uh, where are we on talking to Laura and Britney?
Odafin Tutuola : Actually, nowhere. Their new lawyer says no more questions.
Olivia Benson : [shocked] What? Why?
Odafin Tutuola : Well, it turns out Doug Moore did have a Deed of Guardianship. He named Greg Callahan the girls' legal guardian.
-
Odafin Tutuola : I went through the document looking for red flags. Check this out. Britney's middle name is Katherine. It's spelled K-A-T-H-E-R-I-N-E. All right, look at her birth certificate.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Cathryn with a C and a Y.
Olivia Benson : Even bad parents know how to spell their child's middle name.
Odafin Tutuola : Doug didn't fill out that deed.
-
Olivia Benson : Is the lawyer right?
Peter Stone : Yeah, we can't talk to the girls without their guardian's consent.
Olivia Benson : Okay, they may have plotted to murder their father.
Odafin Tutuola : Greg Callahan's involved. Is anybody still buying his "nice-guy-next-door" act?
Peter Stone : Any evidence to indicate otherwise?
Olivia Benson : The only ones who can tell us more are the girls, who we can't talk to as long as he's their legal guardian.
Peter Stone : So what you need to do is find a way to challenge the guardianship itself.
-
Amanda Rollins : She's early, but she's healthy. Thank god.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : You did great, Rollins. She's... she's so beautiful.
Amanda Rollins : Thanks.
Odafin Tutuola : What's her name?
Amanda Rollins : Billie.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Billie? Nice.
Amanda Rollins : Yeah.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Jesse and Billie. You like your new sister, Jesse?
Jesse Rollins : I love her!
-
Carmen : Sergeant Tutuola's here to see you.
Odafin Tutuola : Fin, everything okay?
Olivia Benson : We just heard back from Doug Moore's boss. They had a staff meeting every Thursday from 3:00 to 6:00. Doug led it. Never missed one.
Olivia Benson : So he couldn't have been home sexually abusing his 13 year old daughter.
-
Fitz : Attend the tale of Douglas Moore. Allegedly, he walks in on the assault, fights back, gets killed.
Odafin Tutuola : That's what the daughters told us.
Fitz : I have three problems with that. Number one, there's no defensive wounds.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : So he didn't put up much of a fight?
Fitz : If any at all. Problem number two, the stab was shallow. Any adult with wherewithal would put pressure on the wound, call 911.
Odafin Tutuola : But he didn't?
Fitz : No, he didn't. He didn't have wherewithal, which leads me to problem number three. I found undigested wine in his stomach and a whopping blood alcohol level.
Odafin Tutuola : So he could have been passed out.
Fitz : At the very least, extremely drunk.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Maybe he went to the bar before he came home.
Odafin Tutuola : Or the daughters aren't telling us the whole story.
-
Odafin Tutuola : The lab says the wine in the bottles in the kitchen matches the wine in the glass.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, and the saliva from the glass matches samples taken from Doug Moore.
Odafin Tutuola : So he was home drinking. Crap.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : He bled out on the couch, right?
Odafin Tutuola : Well, he just so happened to fall straight back after he was stabbed.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Or he was already on the couch. Crap. So, the perp smashed the window, undid the latch from the inside.
Odafin Tutuola : Yeah.
[climbing onto the fire escape, Carisi closes the window and tries to reach the latch through the hole]
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Nope. Look, the angle from this hole to where that latch is, that's not humanly possible.
Odafin Tutuola : Crap.
-
Odafin Tutuola : You lied to those girls, you lied to the court. Did you think you could get away with that?
-
Olivia Benson : Stone says that he can charge kidnapping, but unless the girls testify, it's gonna be tough to convict.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : So this guy does a year for forgery? Come on. He had something to do with this murder. We got to talk to Britney. We got to talk to Laura again.
Odafin Tutuola : They won't turn on him. He's probably been grooming them for years.
Olivia Benson : So get me evidence of that.
-
Greg Callahan : What did Laura tell you? She... look, you know how she makes things up.
Odafin Tutuola : [watching a surveillance feed] Son of a bitch.
Olivia Benson : The undercovers are close by?
Odafin Tutuola : A booth away. She'll be okay, Liv.
Britney Moore : She showed me the ring. The one you gave her.
Greg Callahan : Okay, yeah, I got her a ring. It was just to make her feel better.
Britney Moore : Did you ask her to marry you?
Greg Callahan : What? No, of course not.
Britney Moore : So you're calling Laura a liar.
Greg Callahan : She lives in a fantasy world. Look, just hang in there, Britney. I'm gonna get guardianship back, and we're all gonna live together. You, me, and Laura.
Britney Moore : And the baby?
Greg Callahan : What?
Britney Moore : Look, I think Laura's pregnant.
Olivia Benson : We didn't tell her to say that.
Odafin Tutuola : She's going off-script, winging it. You want me to stop this?
Olivia Benson : No. No, let's... let's give her a minute.
-
Olivia Benson : What's gonna happen to them now?
Alexis Farrow : Uh, the girls will spend the night in custody at the ACS facility. I'm assuming, given the circumstances, the D.A. will be open to a plea.
Olivia Benson : Okay, we'll be in touch.
Odafin Tutuola : So now what?
Olivia Benson : We vet the story. Laura told us that she tried to disclose to the neighbor, Greg Callahan.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : We met that guy. We'll follow up.
Amanda Rollins : And I'll have the lab run the father's DNA against Laura's rape kit.
Olivia Benson : And check the bed sheets, the towels, and the clothes in the hamper.
-
Alexis Farrow : Salt of the earth, Doug Moore. I was horrified to hear he'd been killed.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Um, how... how long were you his attorney?
Alexis Farrow : Huh? Uh, a couple of months. Oh, God, such a nice guy. You know, most clients do things by email nowadays, but...
Odafin Tutuola : He used to come in here himself?
Alexis Farrow : Uh, yeah. Several times. Yeah, we talked about his wife's passing and how he had to get his affairs in order for his daughters, you know?
Odafin Tutuola : [showing Doug Moore's photograph] This him?
Alexis Farrow : [confused] Who's that?
Odafin Tutuola : Doug Moore.
Alexis Farrow : No, it's not.
Odafin Tutuola : [showing Greg Callahan's photograph] What about him?
Alexis Farrow : That's Doug Moore.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : That's the guy who signed the Deed of Guardianship?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : That's right.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Does this guy not look a little young to be a 50-something father with two teenage daughters to you?
Alexis Farrow : Well, he had a photo ID and he had his daughter's IDs. He paid with a credit card, what... Why would somebody lie about that? Why are we doing it this way?
-
Odafin Tutuola : What's your relationship to the girls?
Greg Callahan : I met them two years ago. I didn't exactly want two teenagers hanging around, but Doug worked long hours and they seemed lonely, and I work from home mostly, so it wasn't that big a deal.
Odafin Tutuola : Laura ever say anything about Doug?
Greg Callahan : She'd get pissed at him. When he wouldn't let her watch TV, play on her phone, stuff like that. Why?
Odafin Tutuola : Laura alleges she was sexually abused by her father.
Greg Callahan : What? Oh, my God. Are you sure? D-Doug wasn't around a lot. He drank, but... he... he loved those girls.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Do you remember the Sunday after New Year's? Laura told us that she... she came over here.
Greg Callahan : Yeah, yeah, that's right. Um... she said Doug was hungover and Britney had been sleeping in. She seemed upset, but...
Odafin Tutuola : What'd she say to you exactly?
Greg Callahan : She said that she was mad at her dad and that she didn't want to live at home anymore. Was that what she was trying to tell me? Oh, my God.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Did, uh, did Britney and Laura ever say anything more specific?
Greg Callahan : No, no, I would've gone straight to the cops. You really think that he... I can't believe it. I feel sick.
-
Susan Bard : What you're doing to Greg, it's just not right.
Odafin Tutuola : He committed forgery and perjury.
Susan Bard : He had to. When he told me what Doug was doing to Laura...
Dominick Carisi Jr. : [interrupting] Hold on. When did he tell you that?
Susan Bard : A few weeks ago.
Odafin Tutuola : And you didn't go to the police?
Susan Bard : Greg was trying to get proof to make sure Doug would go to prison.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : How long have you two been involved?
Susan Bard : Uh, almost a year? We talked about me moving in, but now with the girls, it's... it's not a good time.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : [understanding] Huh.
Susan Bard : They need him.
Odafin Tutuola : That's what Greg told you?
Susan Bard : That's what I know. He's been there for them, more than their own father. He made them dinner, listened to their problems, helped them with school, uh, exposed them to art, music, literature.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : I'm sure he's a great tutor.
Susan Bard : He is! Greg and Laura are reading Shakespeare together.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : [looking at book] Romeo and Juliet?
Susan Bard : Sure.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : [reading inscription in book] "From Romeo to my Juliet."
Dominick Carisi Jr. : [to Susan] Did Greg write this?
Susan Bard : So what if he did? W-whatever you're thinking... you're wrong.
