Very interesting inside look...
geekoutmetal30 November 2018
... at the world of those in trying to make it in the biz. A real look how hard and tough it is that not many get to see, but usually get to hear about as these folk try to make it with their own skills and jokes from ground up to the try outs.

Its really worth watching if you enjoy stand up and even if you don't it will give you a chance to appreciate the work and sacrifice that goes into comedy itself.

Daphnique Springs is shrill and annoying
banerjees-9707130 April 2022
Being a practicing stand up comic myself I understand the effort and time and the patience that goes into making people laugh and still being yourself. Simon Gibson got in, he's tough to watch. Daphnique Springs is straight up shrill I would get up the chair of the place she's performing. It's only 2 or 3 people who have a style of their own and are utterly impressive. Overall this show is an okayish watch. As an audience member, you might not feel all that engaged but if you're into doing comedy, empathy is all you got for these guys.

Rosebud is the greatest
catieway3 December 2018
I watched this documentary because the Rosebud Baker told me to. I love her podcast Two Less Lonely Girls. She is so weird and dark and wonderful. Her outlook on life is actually inspiring. This documentary made me look at the art of stand up a lot differently. These comedians are so passionate and proud to get to this comedy festival in Montreal. It made me really appreciate the art form. Also now I have found new comedians to look into! If you listen to comedy podcasts and watch stand up specials like me, I believe this documentary will be enjoyable for you! Thanks for this documentary I had a good time watching it.

If you are interested in comedy at all, just watch it
taylorcool887 December 2018
This is the perfect reality show, cause it fairly accurately shows real people in their version of reality. No one is really acting for the camera or anything. It's genuine. You begin to root for every single one of these comics because you see them as people.

And these people are trying so goddamn hard to get somewhere as comedians and I really thought it was amazing to watch. It inspires hope I think.

Simon Gibson is next level brilliant.

Inside Joke delivers all the way through. It was so interesting to hear each comedian's origin story and unique style, and see how they'll slightly tweak jokes each time they tell them. Every comedian was interesting and funny but one really stood out to me, Simon Gibson. He is a true artist and was so funny that I was crying from laughing so hard.

Berkeley has done it again.
twarford-565344 December 2018
I highly recommend this show. The talented Mr. Berkeley continues to deliver. A true behind the scenes look at what it takes to make it or not in the world of comedy.

Is this show an inside joke?
mcrae_k6 December 2018
I didn't laugh once and I'm really wondering how on earth these comics ever even got a show. It's just so unfunny. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a joke that these people are trying to be comics. This was highlighted when the gay Gent (whose every joke was about being gay or mentioned being gay) said "I don't know want to be known as the gay comedian, I want to be known as a comedian who happens to be gay"

Don't waste your time with this.

Should Come With A Warning
dawson116822 December 2018
We usually like comedy "competitions" so tried this. Got through about 5 minutes ... gay jokes, jokes about various, dare I say, unconventional sex acts. This should come with a warning: Not For Those With Any Taste.

I tried and tried.

I've been a comedy nerd since the mid 80's, all but 2 of the comics here need at least 5 more years in the clubs. I watched the whole run, and they're desperately trying to be LCS; it's not.

Bleak
nikki-stevens14 January 2019
Behind the scenes realism of comics trying to get into "JFL" Montréal's just for laughs festival new comic showcase. The editor shows the festival judges taking themselves way too seriously and the least funny sets I have ever seen. Not flattering for either party and an overall very bleak view of trying to make it. I don't understand these choices.
