- Querl Dox: What is it?
- Supergirl: Oh. Nia Nal saw that picture this morning and kinda freaked out.
- Querl Dox: Nia Nal?
- Supergirl: Yeah. She said it reminded her of a nightmare or something. Who knows if that's true.
- Querl Dox: Nightmare? And you just let her go?
- Supergirl: Yeah.
- Alex Danvers: What are you talking about?
- Querl Dox: There's no version of me telling you what I know that does not impact the space-time continuum.
- Supergirl, Alex Danvers: Whoa.
- Alex Danvers: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. You know about Nia Nal in the 31st century? What... Brainy, who is she?
- Querl Dox: Better we don't discuss that. Future, abrogation, the butterfly effect, casual loops, etc, etc. Why do you think I kep this from you at Thanksgiving when I so easily, you expertly, deduced her import? All you need to know is that Nia might be able to lead us to Agent Liberty. We must go her at once.
- Nia Nal: My dreams aren't like you think. I can't control what I see. Most of the time, I don't even know what's going on in my dreams, and when I do, it's... terrifying. Last time I saw Agent Liberty about to murder a woman.
- Kara Danvers: Did you recognize her?
- [Nia shakes her head]
- Kara Danvers: Do you know when he's going to do it or where?
- Nia Nal: That's what I'm trying to tell you. If I could help, I would. Really, I would. But I can't.
- Kara Danvers: Well, what if I told you that I know someone that could help you?
- Nia Nal: I would welcome the help.
- Kara Danvers: Great. Your help is welcomed!
- Nia Nal: [surprised] Brainy?
- Querl Dox: Hey, girl.
- Kara Danvers: [trying to casually lean on the counter, he slides off and falls to the floor] Oh!
- Querl Dox: I'm okay.
- Querl Dox: It's going to be all right.
- Nia Nal: All right? We've been kidnapped.
- Kara Danvers: Reporting 101. When you get kidnapped, you're on the right track.
- Nia Nal: But that doesn't make any sense.
- Kara Danvers: Tell that to Lois Lane.
- Nia Nal: Who?
- Nia Nal: My family is from... far away.
- Kara Danvers: It's okay.
- Nia Nal: They're from a planet called Naltor.
- Kara Danvers: Wow, that's... you-you know you could have told me, right? I mean, I-I know it's not the best time to broadcast that you're an alien, but...
- Nia Nal: I know myself really, really well. Always have. But once in a generation, some of our women get this genetic oneiromancy.
- [Kara shrugs her confusion]
- Nia Nal: They can dream the future.
- Kara Danvers: And you can do that?
- Kara Danvers: You needed an object Manchester holds close, right?
- J'onn J'onzz: Anything that can help me reach him psychically; clothing, jewelry.
- [his eyes turn red as he searches]
- J'onn J'onzz: He hurt someone in here.
- Kara Danvers: Seems like he does that to everyone he meets.
- J'onn J'onzz: Man, I am still so sorry about what happened. I led you right into his trap.
- Kara Danvers: You're apologizing to me for believing the best in someone? It's kind of my whole thing.
- J'onn J'onzz: You wouldn't have let him get away.
- Kara Danvers: I did let him play me.
- Frank: I'm Agent Liberty.
- Colonel Lauren Haley: Frank... respectfully, you are not leadership material. However, we know you were on Shelley Island, and your background has oddly been erased. So I've got a hunch you can tell us who Agent Liberty is.
- Frank: I am Agent Liberty.
- Alex Danvers: [watching the surveillance feed] We offer plea deals, we tell them we're gonna lock them up, and they just keep saying the same thing.
- Querl Dox: Doing a Spartacus. By which I mean our captured Children of Liberty claim the identity of their hero.
- Supergirl: [approaching] Oh, you're watching the classics.
- Querl Dox: I'm mastering them. Would you like to discuss auteur theory and the works of Ed Wood?
- Supergirl: Yeah, definitely.
- Alex Danvers: Any leads from CatCo?
- Supergirl: No. No, but we're getting close. I can feel it in my gut.
- Querl Dox: Could be a probiotic issue.
- Alex Danvers: Go see Nia, and let me know if you have any leads. Then at least I'll have something to report to the president.
- Supergirl: Oh, you're having another one-on-one with the president?
- [Alex clicks her tongue]
- Supergirl: Ooh, I hope Haley so gets yelled at.
- Kara Danvers: His rage was overpowering, you lost him. It happens. But it's not over yet.
- J'onn J'onzz: That's what I'm afraid of. I thought there was some light left in Manchester, but when I looked into his mind, there was nothing left.
- Kara Danvers: [spotting something with her x-ray vision] Maybe you can get it back.
- [lifting up the couch]
- Kara Danvers: Brass knuckles.
- J'onn J'onzz: [seeing the engraved Union Jack] Well, he does have national pride.
- Kara Danvers: And Bob's your uncle.
- Nia Nal: Can I ask you, how do you know so much about me?
- Querl Dox: Well, I'm a twelfth-level inte...
- Kara Danvers: [cutting him off] He's really smart.
- Nia Nal: Oh.
- Querl Dox: All you need to know is that what you see isn't necessarily what will be. Hence, the need for exploration and interpretation. But that is why I'm here. So, you have nothing to worry about, Nura.
- Nia Nal: Did you just call me Nura?
- Querl Dox: No. I didn't.
- [to Kara]
- Querl Dox: Did... did you call her Nura?
- [Kara shakes her head]
- Querl Dox: She didn't.
- The Monitor: You failed.
- The Flash: Why are you doing this?
- The Monitor: You did this to yourself. And now, all of you will perish.
- Nia's Roommate: You sleep weird.
- Nia Nal: Some roommate. I told you not let let me sleep.
- Nia's Roommate: Uh, I gave you two hours so you wouldn't look like a crackhead at work again.
- Nia Nal: The average Fortune 500 CEO only gets five hours of sleep night.
- Nia's Roommate: The average CEO doesn't get to be a CEO if she's dead from exhaustion.
- President Baker: This is a complete disaster.
- Colonel Lauren Haley: Lives were saved on Shelley Island. A dozen domestic terrorists were brought to justice.
- President Baker: I'm talking about my poll numbers, which just got a big old shave.
- Alex Danvers: I'm sorry, you're letting the polls...
- Colonel Lauren Haley: Uh, sir, you-you have my word, as soon as we take down this organization's leader, your numbers will be back to their usual luster.
- President Baker: You think finding Agent Liberty will fix this, find Agent Liberty!
- Querl Dox: My scan of regional data revealed Collinwood as an early center for anti-alien activity.
- Nia Nal: It does feel a little "Purge"-y.
- Querl Dox: James DeMonaco, 2013.
- Kara Danvers: I thought you were just watching the classics.
- Querl Dox: And?
- Kara Danvers: Don't look now, but these, uh, fine folks over here with the alien-sniffing dog, they've been following us.
- Querl Dox: Who? Where?
- [looking around and pointing]
- Querl Dox: Them?
- Kara Danvers: [shushing him] No! Stop it! Stop! I told... I think they're Children of Liberty.
- Querl Dox: Presumptuous.
- Kara Danvers: I x-rayed them, and they've got guns, and the woman has a metal mask in her purse.
- Querl Dox: Problematic.
- Kara Danvers: Or it could be perfect. Instead of wandering around the city, looking for the girl in Nia's dream, instead, why don't we just find the guy who's going to attack her?
- Querl Dox: Agent Liberty.
- Kara Danvers: Yes. He's here, or he will be soon. And maybe these three can lead us to him. Hmm?
- Querl Dox: Chicanery! Very good. I'll distract Nia while you catfish our new friends. Hail me after.
- [calling to Nia]
- Querl Dox: Look, Nia, a crafts store. Have you been introduced to the magic of lanyards?
- Querl Dox: Our plan is working. See this? They have weapons everywhere, equipment. This is textbook bad guy lair.
- Colonel Lauren Haley: For reasons of national security, from now on, the DEO will require full transparency from its assets.
- President Baker: We need to know your secret identity, Supergirl.
- Alex Danvers: No. We keep her off the books for a reason. She can't tell you that, sir.
- President Baker: And why not? Lockwood just shined a huge spotlight on the fact that you are withholding who you really are. Now, keeping that secret inflames things. Gives the public more reasons to distrust you and my government.
- Supergirl: If I did that, sir, everyone I know, everyone I love, would be at risk.
- President Baker: My family is with the Secret Service as we speak. You think they're not in danger? No one should be above the rest of us. We need to put country first.
- Supergirl: I'm sorry, sir. I can't give you what you want.
- President Baker: Then I thank you for your service, but you're dismissed, effective immediately. I hope you'll comply. The United States does not want a war with Supergirl.
- Supergirl: Then I trust you won't start one.
- Alex Danvers: [as Baker and Haley leave] Okay, just give me some time. They'll come around.
- Supergirl: Protect this place, and everything it stands for.
- James Olsen: [seeing Nia with an armful of coffee cups] Um... stockpiling for the great coffee war?
- Nia Nal: Uh... no, no. These are extras for friends.
- Kara Danvers: [entering as the elevator doors nearly close] One more! Sorry. Thanks. Hey, James.
- James Olsen: Hey.
- Kara Danvers: Hey, Nia. Are those all for you?
- Kara Danvers: I know something's going on with you. I... at Thanksgiving, you told different people different versions of your narcolepsy story, and none of them matched. And now you're... you're drinking gallons of coffee and-and freaking out at the TV...
- Nia Nal: Agent Liberty, on the TV, it reminded me of a nightmare I had.
- Kara Danvers: Nia, I'm getting worried, and I want to help you.
- Nia Nal: [evasively] I'm really okay.
- Lydia Lockwood: There he is. Ben, your friend is here from the university. Manchester Black.
- Manchester Black: Thought I'd pop by and say hello.
- Manchester Black: So, I decided to ditch the city for the afternoon and pay a visit to old Benjamin. Kill two birds with one stone, as it were.
- Lydia Lockwood: Well, I think it's very thoughtful of you to come all the way here in person to thank him.
- Manchester Black: Oh, how could I not, after what he did? I'm talking about the gift, man.
- Ben Lockwood: The gift. Yes, of course, the gift.
- Lydia Lockwood: What gift?
- Manchester Black: The wedding gift. A great big set of knives for me and my fiancée. Fiona.
- [noticing Ben react]
- Manchester Black: You all right there, Benjamin?
- Ben Lockwood: Okay, you want me, you got me. Just... just let her go.
- Manchester Black: But she's the guest of honor. Now, play nice. Go on. Easy, easy.
- Ben Lockwood: [returning to the kitchen] Hey, Lydia, you mind grabbing some more tea? I think Manchester's gonna stay just a little bit longer.
- Lydia Lockwood: Oh. Yeah, sure.
- Manchester Black: Say anything, and she dies screaming.
- Nia Nal: Welcome to Collinwood.
- Kara Danvers: It doesn't seem so bad.
- Querl Dox: Oh, yes. What could go wrong?
- Manchester Black: What's that?
- Lydia Lockwood: Oh, Ben's great-great-great-grandfather made those.
- Ben Lockwood: Yeah. Uh, he was a blacksmith. That bayonet is the... well, it's one of the first things the Lockwoods ever forged. It's from the American Revolution.
- Manchester Black: Is it, really? Can I?
- [removing it from its case]
- Manchester Black: So...
- Ben Lockwood: You know, it's from Bunker Hill. Remember that one? It's the one where the Brits, uh, thought they had won, but the battle ended up so bloody that it cost them the war, and it wasn't worth it.
- Manchester Black: Oh, bloody is right. I mean, can you imagine sticking this into a bloke and then twisting it in his guts?
- Lydia Lockwood: That's...
- Manchester Black, Lydia Lockwood: Graphic.
- Manchester Black: It is. Lockwood. It's a fine piece. You ever wish your husband was a steel man, Lydia?
- Ben Lockwood: Stop it.
- Manchester Black: Of course, that's not really the family business anymore, is it? Now you lot just dress up in wicked metal masks. Isn't that right... Agent Liberty?
- Ben Lockwood: Listen, I've never seen you before in my life, and I'm not whoever it is that you say that I am.
- J'onn J'onzz: [contacting him psychically] Manchester. Manchester, tell me where you are.
- Manchester Black: Get out of my head.
- J'onn J'onzz: You made a promise.
- Manchester Black: That promise died with Fiona.
- J'onn J'onzz: But it didn't die with me. If you can't hold yourself to that promise, I will.
- J'onn J'onzz: I feel your pain, Manchester. Give this up.
- Manchester Black: You want to feel my pain? Feel it.
- [he cuts his hand with Ben's bayonet, and J'onn groans in pain]
- Lydia Lockwood: You're insane! He is not Agent Liberty!
- Manchester Black: Do you bet your life on that, Lydia?
- [tossing the bayonet back into its case]
- Manchester Black: Somewhere in your perfect little house, there is a silly costume he puts on to go do terrorism.
- [kneeling in front of Ben on the floor]
- Manchester Black: Show me that mask.
- Querl Dox: In retrospect, it makes sense that more than one person would have run the Collinwood 5K.
- Kara Danvers: Do you recognize anything?
- Nia Nal: No. All I saw in my dream was the woman, the shadow, and the hook. Do you think we should be looking for some kind of construction site?
- Querl Dox: No. What you saw were probably symbols; Jungian, Freudian. Where I'm from, we call them Frungian.
- Manchester Black: [Ben reveals his Agent Liberty suit to Lydia] Got words for him? He's a killer, you know. Murdered the love of my whole, wasted life.
- Lydia Lockwood: Please tell me this isn't true.
- Ben Lockwood: I'm so sorry. I... It was done, it was finished. I was gonna stop.
- Manchester Black: Put the suit on.
- Ben Lockwood: What?
- Manchester Black: I want you to die doing what you love.
- Lydia Lockwood: [crying] No! Please, no!
- Manchester Black: NOW!
- Kara Danvers: That was amazing. That... that thing you did with the bullets, and the cuffs. How did you do that?
- Nia Nal: I don't know! It was like a reflex. I-I saw the moment before the gunshot. My power's never worked like that before. I-I-I just knew what to do.
- Kara Danvers: I guess that makes sense. Our... our powers are like muscles. The more we use them, the stronger they get...
- [realizing she's on the verge of revealing her identity]
- Kara Danvers: Or... so I've been told.
- Querl Dox: One problem. Our only leads are still unconscious.
- Kara Danvers: [noticing something on the floor] Wait.
- [brushing dirt off a sign]
- Kara Danvers: This says "Lockwood Family Steel". You think Lockwood as in...
- Nia Nal: Ben Lockwood?
- Querl Dox: Ben Lockwood's family company, uh, Lockwood Family Steel, went bankrupt shortly after the terraforming event, which destroyed this factory and killed Ben's father.
- Kara Danvers: I'm gonna get help.
- Kara Danvers: Brainy, Nia, and I are in Collinwood, where we ran into a bunch of Children of Liberty.
- Alex Danvers: Are you okay?
- [realizing the stupidity of the question]
- Alex Danvers: Well, of course you're okay.
- Kara Danvers: They took us to this factory, and it has weapons and supplies; war room stuff. But guess who the factory belonged to first. Ben Lockwood.
- Alex Danvers: What?
- Kara Danvers: Do you think there's a chance he might be Agent Liberty?
- Alex Danvers: [glancing at an image of Liberty on a monitor] Well, let's find out.
- Alex Danvers: Hi, Frank. Uh, the plea deal's off the table.
- Frank: What? Why?
- Alex Danvers: It was for your cooperation, but now we don't need it. We know that Lockwood is Agent Liberty.
- Frank: Lockwood? Who?
- Alex Danvers: Oh, so you're still siding with him.
- [to Kara on the phone]
- Alex Danvers: He's still siding with him.
- Frank: Who are you talking to?
- Alex Danvers: Um, listen, you know what? That's fine. But if you change your mind, just give me a call from whatever black site they send you to.
- Frank: [as she reaches the door] Wait.
- Alex Danvers: [she hides a smirk; after a moment] It's him.
- Kara Danvers: Are you sure?
- Alex Danvers: We got the bastard.
- Manchester Black: [kicking Ben on the ground] Come on, get up.
- Lydia Lockwood: [crying] Ben.
- Manchester Black: All dressed up for his funeral.
- Agent Liberty: [catching his foot] When this is over, they're gonna need dental records to ID your body.
- Manchester Black: [drawing his gun as Liberty gets up] Stand back, stand back. It could be a lot worse. We could go biblical, eye for an eye. You killed Fiona, I kill her.
- [aiming his gun at Lydia]
- Manchester Black: You feel that? That's what it's like when you're about to lose everything.
- Manchester Black: What do you want, J'onn? You're not gonna talk me down.
- J'onn J'onzz: I know. And I'm sorry.
- Manchester Black: For what?
- J'onn J'onzz: You leave me no choice.
- Manchester Black: [grunting in pain as J'onn attacks him psychically] You're right. Because I'll never stop. Not unless you kill me. Go on. Go on. I dare you. You know you can do it.
- J'onn J'onzz: No.
- Manchester Black: Then why are you here?
- J'onn J'onzz: Manchester's on the warpath. I couldn't see for certain, but I think he has Agent Liberty.
- Supergirl: I'll find them.
- Manchester Black: Benjamin Lockwood! Come and get your medicine, lad.
- [Liberty attacks from behind, but Black manages to restrain him]
- Manchester Black: Now then, I suppose the requisite question is...
- [aiming his gun]
- Manchester Black: Any last words?
- Supergirl: [knocking him backwards] I came here to stop him. Don't make me stop you.
- Manchester Black: Is this the part where you tell me violence won't change anything?
- Supergirl: [her eyes red and burning] What did you do to me?
- Manchester Black: It's moondust. Sharp enough to cut Kryptonian DNA. Oh, nasty. You just got a lungful from one of them alien moons. Part of it's honed to a nanometer. I bet you're just a bit softer on the inside.
- Supergirl: If you kill him, what does that make you?
- Manchester Black: The intolerant left.
- Supergirl: If we want to win this, we have to be better. Let me take him to prison, show people who he really is.
- Manchester Black: Don't be daft! Those people hate you! You can put a cape on, say you're a superhero, but to him and everyone else like him, you'll only ever be an alien.
- [brandishing an energy staff]
- Manchester Black: A roach!
- [he fires an energy blast at a control panel, and she's doused in Nth metal]
- Manchester Black: Time to pick a side, Pollyanna. You're with them, government stooge, Happy Meal hero, or you're with me, and we string up the lot. Every terrorist turning your streets into war zones. You keep saying it's a never-ending battle. How about you and I end it together?
- Supergirl: I'll never be like you.
- Ben Lockwood: That's Nth metal, Supergirl! No point struggling.
- Supergirl: [straining] I'm not struggling. I'm flying!
- Reporter: Mr. Lockwood, any comments?
- Ben Lockwood: Any comment... I don't know. Look at my face. Look what they did to me. Now, I wore that mask to protect me and my family because there are aliens who don't like to hear what I believe, don't like to hear the truth, so I'm cards up. What about Supergirl, huh? You know who I am. Who is she?
- Manchester Black: Why are you here? Hmm? Both times you let me go on my merry. Both times I've gone on to do... oh, let's call it unspeakable things. So my theory is part of you wanted me to get away. Part of you wanted me to do what you couldn't.
- J'onn J'onzz: You're wrong.
- Manchester Black: Ah, 'cause you want to be a bloody saint. 'Cause you ain't gonna study war no more, yeah?
- J'onn J'onzz: You think that's a weakness?
- Manchester Black: I think it's a character defect.
- J'onn J'onzz: Couple of weeks ago, you had that same defect. But maybe that's my curse, believing in people who don't deserve it.
- Manchester Black: You think my soul's still up for grabs, old man?
- J'onn J'onzz: Yes, I do.
- [turning to leave]
- J'onn J'onzz: And I think you do, too.
- Mackenzie: Supergirl really got him.
- James Olsen: It's gonna be hard for Lockwood to come off reasonable now that everyone knows he's a psycho in a mask.
- President Baker: "Human rights activist imprisoned." Their words, not mine.
- Supergirl: "Human rights"?
- President Baker: Yeah, a lot of people, lot of donors are asking how can we tolerate this in a government that is supposed to be for the people.
- Supergirl: That meant to imply that aliens aren't?
- President Baker: Aren't what?
- Supergirl: People, sir.
- President Baker: Of course not. But you are a government employee, like me. And, as such, we need to make sure that we are serving all of the people of this country, not just the ones we agree with.
