After many days of travelling Luca and Melua finally reach their destination - the world oldest desert - the Namib. On this voyage of discovery Luca and Melua travel through the beautiful sandy landscape - along the way they encounter incredible creatures adapted to live in extreme heats and peculiar fairy circles that dot the dry lands.

Luca and Melua journey into the rarely explored wilderness region of Kuisab Canyon. Here, they marvel at the beautiful canyon and learn about the interesting plants and animals that call this region home. As they make their way across the dunes to their campsite for the night they come across an ancient desert Welwhichia plant that is over 2000 years old.

On the 3rd day of Luca and Melua's desert adventure they finally reach the massive expanse of dunes that stretch out as far as they eye can see. As they drive up and down the enormous dunes all they can see is a vast sea of sand - it's a long day and their car gets stuck many times. But even when it seems like there is nothing more but sand to see they still manage to discover some old fossilised dunes dating back thousands of years.

the dunes stretch for miles and miles and the sea of sand is never-ending. To Luca and Melua it seems impossible that anyone could live in such a hot and sandy place. Or so they thought - but on the other side of a dune, they come across an old abandoned ghost town with empty broken buildings that have been taken over by the dunes. They jump out of the car and decide to explore the spooky old towns.

While the hot expanse of the Namib Desert may look lifeless, there are in fact a whole host of creatures that thrive out here on the dunes. Luca and Melua meet up with Tommy - a desert animal expert who shows them all the different weird and wonderful creatures that live amongst the dunes.

Luca and Melua make their way into one of the more unusual parts of the desert as they enter into the Spitzkoppe Mountain Range. Here they come across ancient stone arches and decide to try to climb the mountain ranges highest peak. As the sun sets and the moon rises the children witness the most beautiful stars they have ever seen.

On the last stop of their desert adventure Luca and Melua head into the mighty Fish River canyon - it's one of the most scenic places they have ever been with beautiful canyons that stretch as far as the eye can see. Here they encounter mysterious desert horses and some very strong winds.
