I've got a vehement anti-vaxer in my family, I've seen how she picks and chooses stories that support her beliefs. She's an intelligent woman, but she is not a scientist, and the people she parrots are not either. The difference between science and a belief system, is scientists don't think they're always right. That's why they do experiments, to test their theories, and then test more theories if the first one is not proven. There is a big big difference between anecdote and experiments with measured outcomes.
