This is was a great episode! If this is a 7.7, I can't imagine how good the other episodes are. I am so glad I decided to watch this show.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm glad they got rid of Ramy's cool job at a cool tech startup almost right away in this series. I've seen too much of shows set in cool hip tech companies. I work in a tech company, and it's 99% less cool and hip than Hollywood thinks.
Instead of trying to be cool, this series is happy to toss its lead character into groanably uncool situations, such as working for his bigoted horror show of an uncle who could have gotten both of them arrested for attacking some random guy who was having a drunken argument with his girlfriend outside a club and then pulling a gun on him.
Good thing the NYPD was nowhere around. Uncle Naseem is the dangerous wild card character who creates headaches for the lead character and amps up the drama usefully.

Princess Diana

Ramy's start up has gone bust and he is on the unemployment scrapheap.
His mother wants Ramy to get a job with her brother. Uncle Naseem who is a successful diamond merchant.
The problem is Uncle Naseem is the type that every immigrant family has.
Racist, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic. He comes round for a family dinner when he lets rip.
The episode ranges from the brilliance of Mo Salah to Princess Diana being murdered by the Royal Family as she planned to marry an Egyptian.
I still think it is trying to find its feet and there was an icky moment at the beginning. The characters feel like real people.
Laith Nakli has a dash of Joe Pesci as Uncle Naseem, someone who likes a little danger to feel alive.
