Not sure what I expected

In my brain, I guess I was expecting something like Nova Science Now - where the host can be quirky, fun and goofy but the show still presents and entire concept from start to end where you feel entertained, enlightened and rewarded. After all, I watched an hour long Nova Science Now on batteries and I enjoyed it so much I made my brother watch it.

With Crash Test World, I felt like I was watching a YouTuber that gets to travel the world and reminds us of that at the beginning of every episode. Hey I traveled to Qatar, hey I traveled to Israel, Hay I traveled to NYC! Here's 19 minutes of random stuff after my 2 minute intro.

It's like I watched it all but forgot to smash the like button... not because I hated but but I'll be fine remembering 2 years from now to go "oh yeah, is there anything new? Maybe I'll go watch it"...

Is it a travel show? A culture show? A technology show? I have no clue! It claims all of the above but it is so limited in time/scope it can't deliver on any of it. Why is it just 21 minutes when it should be given so much more? Is it because other shows cover the topics better and this is merely a stepping stone to spark interest and be bubbly and cute?

I certainly won't be maintaining a Discovery+ subscription in hopes for more, but maybe between my binging future episodes of Gold Rush a new episode of Crash Test World will show up in my favorites and I'll watch it anyway because when it's all said and done, I feel like I grew up with Kari Byron and the rest of the former Mythbusters Crew that anything they do, I'll go and watch.

Well, except for that silly Explosion show.

Now, I'll be honest, my hopes may have been dashed by abrupt ending of them on Mythbusters, or the cancellation of White Rabbit - i think there is still plenty of room of this fun bubbly experimental and quirky edutainment but I guess the cost of production is so high that it can't find a home or be worth producing in the long run so they get canned.

So maybe I'm just not giving it the chance it deserves for fear it will just be gone... who knows..

But at least after watching this, I do love giving my kids my rendition of my overly exuberant and eye bulging yum as I try and get them to try something new. Not sure it will convince them to eat bugs though.

Kari, we love you but Discovery - give this show more time so it can have some substance please!
