Aside from the overkill iPhone product placement, episode 5 is really well done. At this point, I think it's fair to say the show has established that every time you think you've got a handle on "where the writers are coming from", they throw in another perspective or another character development detail that makes you think maybe there won't be any prototypical "hero" character in this narrative at all. Kinda like life. It's nice to see a well-told story that doesn't try to show you a particular perspective, which seems all too common in 21st century TV shows. Rather, this show seems to be setting itself up to continue painting a narrative in ever-subtler shades of grey that make up the everyday reality most of us live in. How refreshing.

Carrell's Moment To Shine

I really like this series and the direction it is headed. So far. It has been Aniston and Witherspoon who did the heavy lifting, this time around Steve Carrell really gets his chance to shine and I can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve.
I've been singing the song from Sweeney Todd ever since I watched this episode

It's a brilliantly crafted episode - from the title to the chronology of events to the settings - it's absolutely clear what has begun. There are not two sides here. Everyone is fighting for themselves. It's The Hunger Games and UBA is the arena. If I were a tribute, I'd align myself with absolutely no one. So, that would make me Bradley Jackson. The problem with that is, she doesn't know the nature of the game she's playing. Bradley is correct to call him out since her actions make his career the most vulnerable. But even if he isn't at all sincere, it's good advice. Bradley's interview with Ashley is honest. She uncovers the maximum about of truth possible by getting her subject to admit that there is a coverup culture at The Morning Show that is part of the reason why Mitch was able to victimize women. That brings us to the fake Times and UBA negotiations, which are fascinating to watch, especially if you consider that this entire episode is full of mini battles. UBA loses this particular one. It's just rather shocking that they are given so much detailed information about the source that gave The Times their biggest weapon. Mitch is more than her friend. He is her partner on a deeper level than viewers could definitively say up until this point, at least if you believe Alex's claim on the first episode that their hookups meant nothing. Chip's intention in leaking to Robbie before the series began was probably to save Alex's job at Mitch's expense, though we don't know everything yet. He and Alex's careers are now hanging by a thin thread, plus he has Bradley to deal with. So his plan hasn't failed yet, but it's not exactly a success. Everyone else is there with him, though. So, at least he has company.

For me it's generally a red flag when shows include famous music to make scenes more intense. The ending of this episode is the worst I have seen lol. Don't get me wrong I like Elbow but it served zero purpose having that song there. Also the song stretched across multiple events that were not related at all, like not even thematically. It felt like a Youtube edit. Not in a good way. Love this show but for me they dropped the ball at the end. Yikes.
A masterpiece!

The Americanization of Jian Ghomeshi.

This feels very much like the fall of Canada's Jian Ghomeshi, host of the CBC show Q for seven years. I can imagine that the writers found that template very helpful for verisimilitude. Hubris and solipsism abound. Well done.

Warning: Spoilers
This is still the main plot, Millions of dollars, best actors, meh story, I'm sure that in their bubble they think it's the most interesting story ever, Jennifer Aniston continues to play over the top in almost every scene, weird uncharacteristic Episode ending, felt like Ray Donovan. I'm afraid the entire show will pretty much be what scandal will Bradley make next.

I win this show for mentioning Les mis then singing Sweeney Todd but loved it regardless. But now is there chemistry with Alex and her boss? Also she's a professional why would she drink around the reporter and give away stuff. Also, I love how the show is going but this episode has so many journalist and insiders talking in public or phones that people can hear. Like what the heck. Also the camera dolly work when Alex wants to leave is fantastic. Mainly I'm filling up this 600 word minimum for them saying Les mis. Then singing bloody Sweeney Todd. Is someone going to die? Also Bradley shouldn't get drunk with the little people and pay for their drunks and think she won't say stuff and not get thrown away later I'm sure.
Well done!

I like this show but...

I could not understand a damn thing the bartender guy (that Bradley hooks up with) was saying! I couldn't tell if he had an accent or if he was mumbling because it sounds like he's whispering every time he talks... Good thing he doesn't say much (or anything relevant) because even after rewinding it several times I had no clue what words were coming out of his mouth.

With every episode it is loosing on initial excellence

It was 10 stars, then got 9... with episode 5 I am at 5 starts... What was an interesting and thrilling plot, got turned into ueber feministic spin around Mee Too. The original chemistry btw. leading roles is lost and it would require re-boot to fix it. This is a pity, since the original idea was great.
Boring episode
