The 2023-24 television season started without several of the most prominent daytime talk shows: the syndicated The Drew Barrymore Show, The Jennifer Hudson Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show and CBS’ The Talk. They are now expected to return for new seasons by the second week of October.
The Kelly Clarkson Show‘s delay was attributed to the program moving from Los Angeles to New York, which required the building of a new set. Meanwhile, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Jennifer Hudson Show and The Talk postponed their September 18 season premieres amid backlash and picketing by the WGA as the three programs, along with The Kelly Clarkson Show, are guild signatories.

Judge Jerry, the syndicated court show hosted by Jerry Springer. has been renewed for a second season
The pick-up was announced Wednesday by Tracie Wilson, Evp, Creative Affairs, NBCUniversal TV Distribution.
With leading station groups pleased with the show, Judge Jerry already has been cleared in 95% of the U.S., NBCU said.
The renewal adds to a growing list of shows being brought back, including talk shows hosted by Tamron Hall and Kelly Clarkson. The Meredith Vieira-hosted game show 25 Words or Less also got a second season. One rookie show that won’t be back, Sony confirmed last week, is The Mel Robbins Show. But the renewals suggest there is life left in the syndication marketplace, which is welcome news for new arrivals like Drew Barrymore and Nick Cannon, whose shows will premiere later this year.

Sony Pictures Television’s The Mel Robbins Show, an inspiration-focused talk show, will end its run after the end of its first season.
The plan is for production and episode delivery to continue through September, the company said.
“Mel has had a positive impact on millions of daytime viewers and we still strongly believe in her message and the work she is doing,” Spt said in a statement. “We are proud of the show and the talented team and thank our partners and launch group at Nexstar, and our advertisers and sponsors, for their exceptional support.”
Robbins issued her own statement of appreciation. “It was a privilege to have a platform on television to fight for everyday people,” she said. “I am so proud of the show we created because it serves as a lifeline and daily resource for viewers who are struggling and want more out of their lives.

“The Mel Robbins Show” is set to end its run this spring after one season in first-run syndication.
The production on the syndicated talk show strip will continue through the spring to finish out the season order. The Sony Pictures Television talker bowed in September to weak overall ratings. Robbins is a self-help author and motivational speaker who focused the show on helping guests overcome fears and other obstacles to achieving their goals.
“ ‘The Mel Robbins Show’ will continue production as planned and deliver original episodes for the entire season, however it will not be returning for season two,” Sony Pictures TV said in a statement. “Mel has had a positive impact on millions of daytime viewers and we still strongly believe in her message and the work she is doing.
