An uplifting film!
djrmc2425 November 2023
Please keep in mind that this film is working with a very low budget but it still manages to showcase a strong story that is both uplifting and gritty. Yes, there is boxing in the film but the story is not really about the sport of Boxing. Instead our story focuses on the rise of Lola who goes through a traumatizing experience at a party where she is sexually assaulted. Lola then takes up self defense training with partaking in Boxing and finds out she is pretty good. Lola then goes through a transformation process with becoming stronger and overcoming what she has gone through. I thought the performances were all really good with the script here. Where things start to take a turn for the worse is the boxing choreography is pretty bad and unbelievable. Everything else leading up to the boxing scenes is very good. Lola gets a solid 6 stars out of 10 from me.

A Movie to be Shown in School

Urban, I think. I think it was made for girls. Very weepy. Lots of crying. Small cast, even when they needed a crowd, for a crowd scene. I think the intended demographic is teen women of color. It's hard to critique it; because it's like something they would show in school. Not really intended for everyone.
