Excellent ending to another great season!
lars_26 May 2019
Wow what an intense episode full of everything you love about this show. Ties up the season 2 story arc very well with amazing acting from both Comer and Oh. Not much more to say without spoiling, but it will be very interesting to see where this series goes in season 3.

This finale was everything and more. No one saw that ending coming. Don't believe the people that give it a bad review and watch it yourself!! Can't wait for what season 3 brings. It'll be a long, painful wait that's for sure.

Well... another unexpected ending from this show
Ihculelad27 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Althought I thought Aaron's death a little premature, the ending of this show has amazed me. It was nothing what I was expecting and I'm glad for that! Eve not going with Villanelle show us a lot of character development and that she is still a little bit sane (even though she is in love with a psicopath). Villanelle's reaction show us that she is what she is - A PSICOPATH - she doens't understand what love is, she just knows what obssesion is. The amazing construction of these two characters is what holds the show together, but they should improve the storyline on the supporting characters to give more ground to the story as a whole.

And what a great performance from Comer and Oh, they are outstanding!

Binged whole two seasons in a couple days. Well written crimethriller with great humour, plot, twist, directing, acting. Everything was done perfectly. And Jodie: She is adorable isn't she?

It fulfilled my hopes
bjpafa30 May 2019
This wonderful relation, unexpected expected developments, this is how I would have written the script so far. They are minuces that distinguish this series. The sets were marvelous. The acting of the four main characters exquisit. Congratulations to the ensemble. I confess I would like to have directed this. With a paintbrush here and there. But it's very good this way. This time, till know, there isn't no other show surpassing the purety of this art. And I may be a psychopath too, but both women are my dream women. A Threesome. With most respect to the actors, I'm referring the characters. They need to be convinced to join forces, even if to part ways at the end.

Season Two Review.
southdavid17 July 2019
Fortunately, the wait for the second season of "Killing Eve" wasn't anything like as long as the first.

Picking up exactly where the first season ended, Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) is trapped in Villanelle's (Jodie Comer) Parisian apartment, having just stabbed her in the stomach. As both escape the confines of the room and attempt to make their way back to London, they each have issues to overcome. Eve needs to avoid the attentions of any authorities and Villanelle a serious wound that requires treatment.

Despite Phoebe Bridge-Waller not having the same writing input as the first season, she's set a tone that this second season follows admirably - it's gloriously darkly funny. Plot wise, perhaps it's not as hot as the first season. It feels a little like it's searching for reasons to keep the two characters circling each other and it does stretch the boundaries of credibility towards the end.

Though both leads are excellent, it's Comer that makes the show come alive, effortlessly switching characters and accents at a moment's notice.

We raced through the series over a weekend and though perhaps not as good as the first, this is still pretty strong stuff. Can't wait for season three.

S2: Superficial and pretty hollow, but the style, energy, and slickness keep it moving and cover all the many weaknesses
bob the moo22 September 2019
Despite the first season of Killing Eve being light entertainment fluff, its second season got a huge amount of hype and promotion. This is understandable since it was very popular and profitable, but the downside of this is that it makes it seem that the show is something more that very enjoyable fluff. The good thing is that the show itself seems not to have forgotten that, even if the hype and marketing would have you believe hat this is event television (which the "US before UK release" and "iPlayer full release on one night" certainly confirms it is not). The second season picks up immediately at the end of the first and goes from there.

In terms of the show knowing what it is, this works because it keeps its focus very much on its superficiality, it dark humour, and its cool locations, costumes, and style. All of this is very much in place whether it is the snapping of a child's neck (Channel 4's Utopia must be raging that their child murders got strong reaction, whereas here it gets an LOL from Twitter), or just pointless scenes that look great. It does this very well and the second season is entertainingly slick and glides across the main plot points whether they make sense or not. We get the sexuality, the blood, the drama, the tension, the thrills, the costumes, the snappy dialogue - all of it. What we don't get is much of consequence, which the first season at least had occasionally. This is lacking and it is a shame, because I wanted some anchor of seriousness in the middle of all this - but it never came. Regardless it still works for what it is - even though "what it is" is light entertainment fluff with a huge budget and an international presence.

The production values are high, the cast do the best with what they have available to work with (and do well with it), and generally speaking it is entertaining and enjoyable. I can't reach those who think there is some depth, character, or insight to all this, but the lack of that doesn't mean it is somehow bad television - just that it is fluff.

Villanelle
Oktay_Tuna28 August 2020
The finale was actually really good, the performances were great and the music... VILLANELLE! Who am I kidding, the show is nothing without Jodie Comer's character Villanelle. What makes this episode better is it has more Villanelle and it connected the loose ends of previous episodes. They seemed like plotholes but now some of them are fixed. I mean who doesn't like Jodie Comer as Villanelle?

The Writers got lost
efd-104671 July 2019
Now I've seen the first 2 series I think that shortly into Season 2 the writers got lost in the plot lines.

The really interesting part for me in Series 1 was how Villanelle planned and carried out her murders in such a cold but almost humorous way, it was really intriguing. The chase or hunt for her developed into a great series but once the relationships became the whole plot, the writers seem to have got lost in what the point was, it was a mash of characters simply dropping in & out (or getting killed off) and the chase became a mess of mixed relationships and double meanings, while others saw the bisexual link between the main characters as unique, I found it a bit overdone and frustrating.

In all it was an unusual show that started really well (S1) and got lost in itself.

Killing even a shred of credibility...
Auntie_Inflammatory2 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Well, season 1 was fairly ridiculous with characters (mostly Eve) doing dumb things no sane human being would ever do, in order to move the plot along in certain directions (aka bad and lazy writing)...

Season 2 went completely off the rails and into the realm of fantasy.

Eve is still the same bumbling, hysterical dope she's always been. In real life this woman would never be allowed out into the field. She'd be sitting behind a desk all day and handing her reports to competent, rational agents who would do the field work.

Villanelle has become even more of a petulant child. A 26 year-old woman screaming, "BoooOORRIINNG!," in a museum isn't funny or clever or edgy or whatever stupid thing the writer imagined that it was.

Why is Villanelle, an adult stabbing victim/Jane Doe, sharing a hospital room with a 13 or 14 year-old accident/burn victim? Wouldn't the kid be in a children's ward? Oh, wait, I know why...

(Conference room at BBC America)

Writer 1: Gee, wouldn't it be cool if Villanelle were forced to escape from the hospital wearing a really kooky outfit?

Writer 2: Yeah but how could we pull that off? I mean, where would she get something like that in a hospital? We already have her breaking into a room to get drugs, wouldn't it just make more sense to have her break into a closet or doctor's lounge, steal some scrubs, and walk out of the hospital dressed as a doctor?

Writer 1: Well, yeah, but that's not funny! Ooh, I know, we could put her in a room with a kid who wears really garish, kiddie pajamas! She'll steal a pair and have to walk around in these ridiculous, gaudy, childish pajamas until she can steal other clothes. It'll be hi-lar-i-ous!

Writer 2: But she'd never be placed in a room with a child in real life.

Writer 1: Dude, have you read some of the reviews on IMDb? The die-hard fans of this show will swallow anything, no matter how improbable or outrageous! Let's make it even crazier, let's have her KILL the kid too!

Writer 2: WHAT?! No, that's too much, even for Villanelle! We can't have her murdering a child!

Writer 1: But we'll make the kid have disfiguring injuries that he's really depressed about. See, then people who are uncomfortable with a child getting killed can interpret it as her doing him a kindness by sparing him having to go through life like that.

Writer 2: I don't know...

Writer 1: Come on, when will we get another chance to write the most ridiculous crap imaginable and actually see it air?

Writer 2: Yeah, what the hell, let's go nuts!

Villanelle must have been caught on several security cameras around the hospital, her fingerprints and DNA are all over the hospital, and many people in the hospital have seen and interacted with her. A Jane Doe with a stab wound who is dropped off anonymously would be reported to the police. A photo would've been taken of her while she was unconscious and compared to reports of missing persons. Her fingerprints and DNA would be on record from several murder cases throughout Europe. Yet, despite all this, she remains a mystery to law enforcement?!

If she had a number to call a handler to come get her, why did she wait until she was at Julian's house? Why didn't she just call from the hospital?

Villanelle STILL never wears gloves when she's out murdering because (as we learned in season 1) cops in Europe apparently don't bother with silly things like finger prints and DNA tests.

She murders a guy in the window of an Amsterdam brothel, in full view of a gaping crowd, and no one realizes that it's a real murder because...? Because there are fake, violent, bloody murders enacted in brothel windows all the time? Doubt it.

The "romance" between Eve and Villanelle is still contrived and unbelievable. Fortunately, the writers seem to have dropped the "every other person is bisexual" (when only 2 percent of the population actually are) narrative. Maybe someone at BBCA got the memo that John/Jane Q. Public are sick and tired of social engineering disguised as entertainment.

Konstantin is still acting like the tolerant but slightly exasperated father of a bratty child.

Carolyn continues to pop up, looking vaguely menacing, and issuing curt instructions and orders in her monotone voice.

Everyone at MI6 seems to have conveniently forgotten that Villanelle MURDERED their co-worker/pal Bill in a horrific way! Yeah, she cold-bloodedly stabbed our dear friend to death and left his baby girl fatherless but...that was last year! Now we're totally cool with working with her and letting her escape justice. WTF?!

They need Villanelle to interrogate "The Ghost", and it's a really big deal, but she's not shown doing it because...? Oh, because the writers aren't talented enough to write the scene.

The whole arc with (supposedly) big, bad Aaron Peel was boring. The guy was such a low-key psycho that you wanted to check his pulse. He's a cunning criminal and big tech mastermind but he just walks off and leaves his computer unattended and not even password-protected so that Billie/Villanelle can easily access it and see his murder videos? Not bloody likely!

And the finale...

Eve just leaves Hugo lying in a pool of blood?! She doesn't even give him another thought until she starts walking back towards the hotel, after the whole scene at Peel's, and she stops twice to chat more with Villanelle before resuming her casual WALK. Why didn't she RUN?! If a co-worker/friend/cute guy you just slept with had been shot wouldn't you RUN to his aid the second you left Peel's?! Wouldn't you pick up or borrow a phone and call an ambulance?! Yes, YOU would. And so would I. But not ridiculously-written Eve! No, she just moseys on back in her own sweet time. Oh well, guess I might as well go check and see if ol' Hugo's still alive, ho hum...

Raymond showing up with an ax might be great for dramatic effect but it's still stupid. Nobody notices a big, menacing foreigner walking into a hotel with a huge freaking ax? Why is there never anyone around at any of these hotels except for MI6 agents, bad guys, and Villanelle? No concierges at the front desks? No maids in the hallways? No room service people? No other guests ANYWHERE? I've been to hotels in Italy, they actually have employees. Even if you don't see the staff and guests at a hotel, you can usually hear them. All of the hotels on this show are so quiet you can hear a pin drop yet absolutely no one hears loud, violent struggles with people grunting and screaming, gunshots, or an ax attack?!

Villanelle could have easily shot Raymond from a distance but doesn't because...? Because then they wouldn't have been able to have that dramatic fight and Villanelle wouldn't have been able to get Eve to kill Raymond! I don't buy Villanelle nearly allowing herself to be killed in order to prompt Eve to attack him.

Eve doesn't wipe her prints off the ax?! Oh, right, European cops don't bother with the whole fingerprint/DNA thing. Silly me, I forgot.

Eve seriously thinks that her telling Kenny about Carolyn's actions is going to bother him? Like he doesn't know what kind of person his mother is?!

I appreciated the shots of Hadrian's Villa. That was nice, really. Kudos to the cinematographer (although he could've managed the glare of the sun a little better). Too bad those 2 annoying women wouldn't shut up during what could've been a great travelogue.

I'm betting that episode 1 of season 3 starts off with Eve getting up and staggering away because she got the idea of playing dead from Hugo. You see, Villanelle walked away from a debilitating injury at the end of last season so Eve has to do it too, 'cause they're twinnies!

Cringe.

I don't know how the next season could possibly get any worse. Maybe they could just make it a complete parody of the genre? Maybe a musical, where Villanelle breaks into song during each murder? Maybe a cartoon? The possibilities are endless!

Decent, but...
ToadofTruth15 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It feels like they're just milking this show for as long as they can now. It's obvious Eve will miraculously be alive at the start of the next season, instead of bleeding out in the middle of nowhere. Villanelle will probably go back to save her. They could've wrapped up the whole series here, maybe with Villanelle killing Eve, or committing suicide after hearing Eve say she doesn't love her (and Konstantin choosing his family over her). It just feels like they're dragging it on, with the inconclusive endings.

First season was good, this one not so much.

Also, why do people in movies and TV shows never check under the bed when looking for someone?!

What happened to season 2???
spencerdawg-9696928 May 2019
Season 2 was amazing and I really like the first episode of season 2. The hospital scene was hilarious with the crocs and all. But it quickly went down hill and became a fandom show. Please bring back PWB as head writer ... this seasons writing was mediocre at best. The actors are still amazing and as long as Jodie Comer is playing Villanelle I'll be watching.

You're Mine
Prismark1014 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Working fo the security services is murky. Then again so is being a freelance contract killer.

Both Eve and Villanelle are distrusting of their handlers. Eve even finds herself in danger.

Villanelle less so. She discovers Aaron Peel is a serial killer who films women getting murdered. Villanelle shows him one last death.

This is all about what Eve is willing to do for Villanelle and bury a few hatchets.

The final scenes at some magnificent Roman ruins (with strangely no tourists) was underwhelming. In some ways mirroring the first season finale that leaves Villanelle feeling a sense of disappointment.

The B*tch is Dead
lynihrean6 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What got me into the show purely out of boredom and the hype surrounding season 3 on the internet. I was hugely disappointed in the middle of season 1 where the show's writing drastically declined. And yet I was hooked on Jodie Comer's character Vallanelle or whatever her is. Eve to me is probably the most boring character out if the entire series, hell even her husband would make a more intriguing main character. So yeah the b*tch is dead, I enjoyed the moment, even though no one is gonna a guy Eve being actually dead. I actually wish season 3 would just focus on Vilanelle and her life after her so called girlfriend( whom I still have no idea what attracted her in the first place) at the season 2 finale) But I know that isn't going to happen. I'll keep up the show no matter the quality chase I'm just too fascinated by Jodie Comer's performance, hey impeccable charisma which makes her character interesting no matter how bad the writing is. Season 3, I know you will disappoint, just please don't disappoint too much, and pick new soundtrack pls I've always enjoyed the songs being picked by the show.
