There'd be far more objections for badgering witnesses and testifying...because Madeline is an emotional mess. She'd be locked up after each court hearing because she can't control herself.
While questioning Heather, she doesn't ask why the testimony conflicts, she pushes other things. She doesn't ask if he approached with the bat, doesn't ask why they'd leave their child in the car while going clear back tot he field and more. Her questions weren't direct, they were a mess, going in circles and down every rabbit hole presented to her.
She's an awful lawyer and it fits that she's a last hope lawyer instead of on the front lines before they get convicted.
The show has an interesting theme and underlying story, but the writing is garbage as the emotion is far more likely to get them held in contempt than win them cases. (And you'll notice, in the end it's the evidence that wins the cases, not the emotion, but that seems to go over the heads of the target audience...and especially the writers/producers.) It's that awful.
