Brilliant first series. Great chemistry between the 2 presenters....my favourite part of the show...Beau asks 'how do you say aluminium?'
Rick answers 'I say it properly'. Good show. Bring on series 2.

Better than the first series

I enjoyed this series more than the first, there was less messing about on this one and the tone was a little bit more serious. Would like to see a series 3 with a bit more progression and a bit less dumbing down. I like the chemistry between the cast and look forward to more.
Fabulous programme but......

Fascinating programme, a new take on TV archaeology. Beau is committed, Gary and the other guest experts know their stuff but Rick Edwards is childish and irritating 😡 and needs to stick to 'brainless' tv .... either that or grow up and deflate his ego.
Love this series - apart from the cruelty

Beautiful scenery, paddling in rivers, mudlarking - I can imagine myself there. I love the delight over every horse skull or musket ball. Rick, Gary and Beau are people you want to spend time with. We even learn some history. It was game of Rick to learn how to river-lark instead of staying on the bank. I love it when the three of them march through a town in their frog outfits, or examine the finds in a makeshift tent.
Just one thing, though - why does Rick have to be so cruel to Beau the whole time? Constantly taunting him for being short, or not being able to speak French, or being covered with duck-weed. I'm watching a second time and it's really grating. And nobody comments or intervenes.

GOWI

That stands for 'Get on with it instead of standing around yakking - gowi. Why they had to import an American to do this I have no idea as every episode includes a British underwater archaeologist . Every scrap of rusty metal is met with such tremendous acclamations but nearly always turn out to be nothing at all. As for picking up a lead ball and saying 'This proves there was military action around here' what rubbish! I have fired thousands of lead balls from flintlocks, doesn't mean anything.
This could have been so good, and why do they insist on calling the river Devon Deevon I've no idea !
